Improve health, instill humanity and inspire hope. That's just the beginning of the difference you can make when you join our team at Corewell Health. GENERAL SUMMARY: Under the general guidance of the Neurosurgeon and Medical Director, the Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant will evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with complex neurological and neurosurgical conditions following department-approved practice guidelines. The Advanced Practice Provider will join a busy, high acuity Neurosurgery service providing 24/7 coverage. Current scheduling comprises three 13-hour shifts per week. This role primarily focuses on night-time APP coverage, providing clinical support across the hospital during off-hours. Weekend coverage averages every 3rd weekend. Future scheduling may be adjusted based on patient care needs, program growth, and operational priorities. The ideal candidate has 1-3 years of neurosurgery experience and is eager to practice at the top of their license within a fast paced, team-oriented environment. Background in neurology, or ICU would also be strongly considered. The Neurosurgery APP provides comprehensive inpatient care in collaboration with neurosurgeons and the Medical Director. Responsibilities include performing physical examinations, collecting and documenting patient data, conducting diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, ordering and interpreting laboratory and imaging studies, performing bedside floor procedures, and completing new patient evaluations and neurosurgical consults. The APP will also perform postoperative rounding in ICU and regular medical floor. The Neurosurgery APP coordinates patient care and discharge planning, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, and ensures continuity across the care continuum. This role offers broad clinical exposure, strong physician collaboration, and opportunities for clinical growth within an advanced neurosurgical program. The APP contributes to excellence in patient care, teaching, process improvement, and clinical leadership within the department. BENEFITS Corewell Health offers a comprehensive benefits package to meet your financial, health and life-work balance goals.
