About the Job

DRAWING, PAINTING, and PRINTMAKING TECHNICIAN

This role oversees the operational, safety, and instructional support for the Drawing, Painting, and Printmaking areas, ensuring studios, classrooms, and labs remain clean, functional, well-equipped, and compliant throughout the year.

Bargaining unit consideration begins on 01/26/26 and ends on 02/01/2026. Shifts are Monday through Thursday 7.5 hours a day. Overtime and/or consecutive Sundays are not a condition of employment.

Salary range: $25.00 - 28.00 dollars per hour.

Drawing & Painting responsibilities include: (50%)

  • Maintain supplies for studio operation.
    • Inventory
    • Procurement
      • Tracking budgets
      • Purchasing general area consumable supplies
      • Purchasing class-specific consumable supplies
      • Purchasing grad research supplies
      • Purchasing faculty research supplies
    • Organization of supplies
  • Classroom infrastructure
    • Forecast area equipment needs
    • Maintain, repair, and clean equipment and classroom supplies
    • Assist with course and room scheduling needs
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate workers and lecturers with service hours.
    • Hiring
    • Scheduling
    • Training
    • Time approval
  • Support area with figure models

Printmaking responsibilities include: (40%)

  • Maintaining chemical storage.
    • Solvents
    • Ferric Chloride and Nitric Acid
    • Flammables
    • Ensure OSHA compliance
  • Maintain supplies for studio operations.
    • Inventory
    • Procurement
      • Tracking budgets
      • Purchase general area consumable supplies
      • Purchase class-specific consumable supplies
      • Purchase grad research supplies
      • Purchase faculty research supplies
      • Purchase equipment
      • Purchase printmaking supplies for West Crib
    • Organization of supplies
  • Maintain and repair equipment and classroom supplies.
    • Etching, lithography, screen, and Vandercook presses
    • Hot plates
    • Exposure unit
    • Screen stretcher
    • Screen washout stations
    • Metal and paper cutting equipment
    • Spray booths
    • Hand tools
    • Furniture and storage
  • Classroom infrastructure
    • Forecast area equipment needs.
    • Assist with course and room scheduling needs.
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate workers and lecturers with service hours.

  • Weekly shop monitor hours and equipment checks.

Other General Duties (10%)

  • Manage and manifest hazardous waste storage and disposal for Regis West.
  • Area and departmental safety:
    • Be an active member of the Regis Safety Committee.
    • Assist with annual Right to Know and Building Safety trainings.
    • Semesterly in-class safety trainings.
    • Maintain area SDS, first-aid kits, and eye-wash stations.
    • Write new safety protocols as needed.
    • Purchase safety supplies for areas.
    • Attend monthly area meetings.
    • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to write and speak English; ability to teach students and graduate assistants safe procedures for power and hand tool operation.
  • Working knowledge and understanding of printmaking equipment, facilities, and processes (intaglio, lithography, relief, screen, and RISO).
  • Working knowledge of drawing, painting, and printmaking material usage.
  • Working knowledge of woodshop equipment.
  • Experience working in an academic setting with students and managing student employees.
  • Experience with managing and tracking multiple procurements, budgets, and purchase orders.
  • Ability to lift to 50 lbs. Ability to stand for long periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Extreme organization, good communication, interpersonal skills, and attention to detail.
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75% Appointment
