Job Summary

The Production Coordinator expedites the flow of work and materials within or between departments of an establishment according to production schedule. Their duties include reviewing and distribution production, work, and shipment schedules; conferring with department supervisors to determine progress of work and completion dates; and compiling reports on progress of work, inventory levels, costs, and production problems.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Examine documents, materials, and products, and monitor work processes, in order to assess completeness, accuracy, and conformance to standards and specifications.
  • Review documents such as production schedules, work orders, and staffing tables to determine personnel and materials requirements, and material priorities.
  • Confer with department supervisors and other personnel to assess progress and discuss needed changes.
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaboration with management, production, maintenance and logistics.
  • Confer with established personnel, venders, and customers to coordinate production and shipping activities, and resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Record production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures.
  • Requisition and maintain inventories of materials and supplies necessary to meet production demands.
  • Calculate figures such as required amounts of labor and materials, manufacturing costs, and wages, using pricing schedules, adding machines, calculators or computers.
  • Compile information, such as production rates and progress, materials inventories, materials used, and customer information, so that status reports can be completed.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent; some college coursework or degree a plus.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of office/administrative experience.
  • Must have demonstrated experience working in Microsoft Excel to manage data, create spreadsheets, generate reports, charts, etc.
    • Experience should include other Microsoft Office Products such as Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Associates degree preferred.
  • Inventory experience preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Detail oriented; highly organized.
  • Ability to work well with internal staff and employees.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Dependable, reliable self-starter; self-motivated.

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to walk, stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, bend, and kneel.
  • Frequently lifts up to 20 lbs.
  • Regularly required reach with hands and arms.

Work Environment

  • Potential for slips, trips and falls.
  • Work is performed in a cold, wet facility.
  • Work is performed outside in all types of weather.
  • Exposed to water and protein by-products.
  • Noise levels are moderate.
