Work in close collaboration (1:1) with a nationally recognized advanced endoscopist within a high-volume tertiary/quaternary referral practice at the Center for Advanced Endoscopy, Yale New Haven Hospital. * The Center for Advanced Endoscopy serves as a regional and national destination center for complex endoscopic care, delivering services that are not available at most hospitals nationwide. * Exposure to highly specialized clinical care, including EUS, ERCP, interventional endoscopy, advanced endoscopic resection, bariatric endoscopy, and complex pancreaticobiliary disease. * A thoughtfully designed hybrid role integrating: * Meaningful opportunities for clinical autonomy, advanced clinical decision-making, and procedural involvement. * A robust mentorship model emphasizing professional growth, skill development, and long-term career advancement. * Evaluate and manage complex patients longitudinally. * Assist with advanced endoscopic procedures and peri-procedural care. * Collaborate closely within a multidisciplinary academic care environment.
Key Clinical Responsibilities (in addition to standard APP scope) * Provide ambulatory, inpatient, and procedural (endoscopy unit) clinical care within a subspecialty advanced endoscopy practice. * Independently manage complex GI patients in the advanced endoscopy clinic under physician collaboration. * Conduct pre- and post-procedure evaluations for EUS, ERCP, and other advanced procedures. * Coordinate multidisciplinary care across surgery, oncology, radiology, pathology, and hepatopancreatobiliary services. * Participate in longitudinal care of patients with high-acuity pancreaticobiliary and complex GI disease. * Contribute to peri-procedural clinical decision-making and procedural support in advanced cases. Qualifications * Prior experience in gastroenterology, advanced endoscopy, acute care, or complex ambulatory medicine strongly preferred. * Exceptionally motivated newer graduates with strong clinical training and a demonstrated commitment to pursuing a career in gastroenterology will be considered. Qualifications EDUCATION Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or an accredited Physician Assistant Program. EXPERIENCE Prefer clinical working experience as a NP/PA within the given specialty/service line recommended, but none required. APRNs, PAs, CRNAs and CNMs are required to be appointed to the Affiliated Medical Staff of a YNHHS Hospital and credentialed through the Medical Staff process. Evidence of current competence to practice as {an APRN, PA, CRNA, CNM} via appropriate reference letters from physicians and other practitioners must be able to be obtained during the Medical Staff appointment process in order to be eligible. LICENSURE Active PA Certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA), Connecticut State Physician Assistant License, ACLS/BLS Certified, when indicated for position profile DEA License, when indicated for pediatric position profile PALS, when indicated for neonatal care NRP Certification. Additional licensure, certifications and/or continuing education credits may be required during employment based on position and area of specialty.
