We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of a rapidly growing commercial platform. As part of our team, you will take ownership of delivering world-class experiences to our customers and partners. You should have deep expertise across the software development lifecycle, from architecture to testing. You'll demonstrate a passion for quality and creative problem-solving. You'll design and manage secure, reliable, scalable, and maintainable systems, and then effectively debug, test, and support them in production. You should be comfortable leading feature development and making architectural decisions independently. You will be empowered to envision, design, code, validate, and deploy key features with substantial customer and business impact. You will build critical cross-service expertise around Containers, Helm Charts, Linux, and Kubernetes best practices, architecture, design, debugging, and troubleshooting. You will naturally embody Microsoft's culture and passion for growth mindset while fostering technical excellence and mentoring others to set the team up for success and growth.

• Lead architecture and design for complex, large-scale cloud services with high availability and performance requirements.
• Drive technical strategy and make decisions that influence multiple teams and product areas.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into robust, scalable solutions.
• Break down complex projects into actionable tasks, provide accurate estimations, and ensure timely delivery.
• Develop high-quality, secure, and compliant solutions leveraging modern engineering practices.
• Analyze production telemetry and performance metrics to optimize reliability and efficiency.
• Champion improvements in engineering processes, automation, and operational excellence.
• Mentor and coach engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous learning.
• Partner across geographies and disciplines to deliver impactful solutions aligned with business goals.
• Advocate for customer-centric design and drive innovation in commerce platform capabilities.

Required/minimum qualifications

• Bac.helor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience
• 3+ years' experience indesignand implementation of large-scalecloud services

• Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
• Expertise in distributed systems, microservices architecture, scalability patterns, and fault-tolerant design.
• experience with REST APIs, messaging systems (Service Bus, Event Hub), and cloud storage (Cosmos DB).
• Proficiency in debugging, performance optimization, and data-driven problem-solving.
• Hands-on experience deploying, monitoring, and operating services in Azure or similar cloud environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure-as-code.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers and lead technical projects.
• Curiosity and commitment to leveraging AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance engineering effectiveness.

Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
