YOUR OPPORTUNITY


We have an exciting Product Specialist opportunity in our Merriam, KS office. The Product Specialist is responsible for maximizing profits and throughput while minimizing costs for specific channels in the company. This position will collaborate with sales, FSQA, analytics, scheduling, and operations to help identify an ideal product mix and put a plan together to execute that mix.

RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Utilize cost models to develop daily and out-front break-even models to assist with pricing and inventory management.
  • Work with the sales group, operations and supply chain throughout daily activities to manage sold positions and pricing.
  • Participate in weekly market forecast and raw material demand meetings.
  • Work with sales and supply chain team in evaluating and establishing frozen positions for Value-Added products and develop timing for establishing frozen positions.
  • Actively manage freezer inventories including distressed sales.
  • Work with the analytics department to develop and manage production realization reporting for Value-Added items.
  • Work with Operations, including traveling to the plants, to identify cost reduction and efficiency improvement opportunities within the Value-Added product lines.
  • Review and submit all SKU changes, test interims, and new items needed for their specified sales channel.
  • Become the resident expert on the items within their span of control.
  • Manage and actively sell Value-Added distressed products

QUALIFICATIONS



Required:



  • Minimum of 1-2 years' experience in an animal protein product management, sales, or equivalent role
  • An understanding of product development and commercialization
  • An understanding and familiarity with protein/commodity markets
  • An understanding and familiarity with customers and sales tactics
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with customers and employees via telephone, internet, and face-to-face contact.



Preferred:



  • An understanding of financial models as they pertain to animal protein products, especially pork related market and items
  • Familiarity with pork slaughter and fabrication facilities, processes, equipment, and cuts
  • Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPointand Microsoft AI



SCHEDULE Normal business hours or as needed outside of regular business hours.

  • Primarily an office environment with some need to work at our processing facility.
  • The noise level in the work environment is dependent on which environment you are in
