DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Custodial Worker 1, your role is vital in maintaining a clean and safe environment within the hospital. You will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including cleaning and disinfecting surfaces, removing trash and debris, and maintaining the appearance of the floors and walls. You will also be expected to assist with linen delivery and maintain outdoors areas of the facility. This position requires physical labor, such as operating housekeeping equipment, lifting, and using ladders to achieve high sanitation standards. Your work will directly impact the well-being of consumers and staff, making it a crucial role in the hospital.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Limited-term, full-time employment. The term of these positions is 6 to 11 months.
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Sunday - Saturday, with a 30-minute lunch. This role involves a rotating weekend schedule, typically one weekend every four weeks, with corresponding weekdays off. Schedules are subject to operational adjustments.
  • Overtime and travel as operationally necessary
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
