Tesla is seeking ahighly motivated EHS Manager to lead it's first Semi Factory environmental health and safety team. This role offers the opportunity for growth in technical and leadership roles. The EHS Manager occupies a key site leader role serving the Semi Facotry leadership team, driving accountability for operational EHS elements across all areas of the business.The candidate will use human and organizational principles to drive ownership of safety, health, and environmental impacts from the front line to senior management levels, with a focus on engagement, learning from events, and systems-level problem solving.
The Semi Factory EHS Manager will develop, implement, and continuously improve programs within the EHS Management System framework in partnership with the broader EHS and Semi Manufacturing and Engineering teams. They will ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental, health, and safety regulations, and conformance to internal standards. The candidate has strong, hands-on experience with operations safety management in dynamic manufacturing environments. This role is situatated within Tesla's global Environmental Health,Safetyand Security (EHS&S) organization, and will report into the Director of EHS for Nevada and Energy Products Manufacturing. The EHS&S organization supports all Tesla Engineering, Manufacturing and Sales/Service/Delivery functions in our shared mission to accelerate to a sustainable tomorrow by being safe, fair and fun today. What You'll Do
- Build and lead the Semi Factory EHS team, comprised of EHS specialists, engineers, technicians and associated roles
- Sustain the ISO 14001/45001 EHS Management System elements through effective integration into new site Operations & Engineering activities. Develop new procedures, inspections, trainings, or reports as needed
- Serve as a Nevada EHS ecosystem leader, ensuring effective deployment of all EHS services at Semi Factory and associated facilities (such as EHS Training, Industrial Hygiene, Onsite Medical, Emergency Response, Environmental Affairs)
- Analyze event trends and use risk-assessment methods to drive continuous improvement that safeguard the business from high severity safety, health and environmental impacts
- Facilitate learning from events and organizational feedback, fostering operational accountability for corrective and preventative actions that address system risks and not just individual behaviors
- Actively work as a key Management of Change stakeholder to ensure that production and factory changes result in either sustained or strengthened safeguards forsafety, health and environmental aspects
- Coach, mentor, and support development of EHS staff
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety Management, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of experience managing a team of individual contributors, driving exceptional outcomes and performance managing as appropriate
- 10+ years of experience as an environmental, health and/or safety professional focused on jointly maximizing EHS and business outcomes, preferably in battery/cell, advanced manufactuing, heavy chemical, oil & gas, semiconductors, or similar industries
- Experience ability to lead EHS programs, engaging all levels of personnel and influencing/managing change effectively
- Proven understanding of safety, health and/or environmental measruement and control methods across design, commissioning and operations environments
- Comfortable using and learning a variety of software applications to fulfill EHS goals; expert proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.)
