Department Summary

Roche Tissue Diagnostics Personalized Healthcare Solutions (PHCS) lifecycle partners with pharmaceutical companies to develop customized solutions for value-based, outcome-driven therapeutic strategies tailored to individual patients. The best oncology drugs in the world are most effective only when we link them to the right patients at the right time. For over a decade, Roche has been at the forefront of personalized healthcare, working to support the medical field as it trends toward patient centricity. The PHCS Pharma Services Assay Development group develops prototype assays to help identify biomarkers that may predict drug response during early phase clinical trials.

This internship position is located in Tucson, on-site.

The Opportunity

  • Conduct research into innovative detection technologies relevant to tissue diagnostics.

  • Design and execute experiments; makes observations and analyzes data.

  • Prepare technical reports and maintain complete and accurate records.

  • Prepare and present experimental procedures and results in group and project teams.

  • Document activities for publication and/or patent potential.

Program Highlights

  • Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

  • Program start dates are in May/June 2026.

  • A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

  • Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.

  • Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.

Who You Are

Required Education

You meet one of the following criteria:

  • Must be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Bachelor's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a Master's Degree (enrolled student).

  • Must have attained a Master's Degree.

  • Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).

Required majors: Molecular/Cellular Biology, Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering.

Required skills:

  • Two years of undergraduate studies with laboratory courses in chemistry and biology completed.

  • Common laboratory techniques, spectroscopy, biochemical assays.

  • Ability to perform fast prototyping and testing iterations and solve practical problems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

  • Complements our culture and the standards that guide our daily behavior & decisions: Integrity, Courage, and Passion.

  • A passion for developing and applying technologies to solve challenging problems and improve the lives of patients.

  • Self-motivated, self-disciplined and ability to work independently.

  • Solid knowledge and/or experience in one or more of the following areas is highly desired: biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology and/or complex data analysis.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of Arizona is $23.00 - $44.00 per hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
