Stellar Solutions is seeking a Safety Engineer to develop and implement system safety strategies and artifacts for major defense acquisition programs. You will partner across government, FFRDC, and contractor teams to produce disciplined, compliant, and actionable safety products throughout the lifecycle, aligned to MIL-STD-882 and program requirements.



Role/Responsibilities/Qualifications

You will lead and document analyses, manage safety program products, and coordinate with diverse stakeholders to meet statutory and regulatory objectives across acquisition phases.


Key responsibilities include:

    Develop and implement safety strategies, SSMPs, PESHEs, and Environmental Hazard Analyses.

  • Plan, execute, and document safety analyses per MIL-STD-882 and program needs.

  • Develop and manage system safety processes and products (for example, SSMP, PESHE, Safety Releases, hazard analyses).

  • Identify and communicate risks, hazards, and deficiencies in procedures, design, and training.

  • Coordinate with government, FFRDC, and contractor teammates to meet safety objectives.

  • Support program planning and reviews across acquisition phases.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 or more years conducting systems engineering analysis, system safety, and risk or hazard analysis; implementing DoD safety programs.

  • 5 or more years supporting Major Defense Acquisition Programs (space, ground, software, or hardware).

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-882 and safety program implementation.

  • Experience defining program strategies and implementation plans across lifecycle phases.

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Science.

Desired Qualifications

  • SEIT experience on space-based remote sensing systems.

  • ESOH risk management and NEPA compliance.

  • Hazard Tracking Systems, Risk Acceptance Letters, Safety Releases.

  • Agile methodologies and DoD 5000.01 and 5000.02.

Clearance & Additional Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen.

  • Secret Clearance

  • On-site expectation: El Segundo, CA.

Compensation:

The typical annual salary range for this position is approximately, USD $125,000 - $150,000. Individual pay is determined by many factors including work location, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. In addition to salary, this position is also eligible for a discretionary annual performance bonus, profit sharing / retirement plan and other benefits (all in addition to annual base salary).



Deliverable(s)

Deliverables could be in the format of a report, software file, briefing, spreadsheet, or other document as directed by the Government, using government approved and/or mandated systems/software and processes governed by guidance/instructions/policy or direction. The nature of this work will, at times, require quick responses to stringent deadlines and always in a high quality, professional manner.
