Reports to: EHS Manager

Responsibilities



  • Primarily assists the EHS Manager in meeting compliance requirements and maintenance of the ISO 14001 EHS Management System.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • compiling information and data
    • preparing bulletin board postings and safety posters
    • database updates
    • work instruction updates
    • providing assistance to the annual employee audiometric testing
    • filing of various records and other duties as determined by EHS Manager.


  • Position will require work in the manufacturing plant at times, whether posting of information on area boards or gathering information in support of EHS activities.


Specific Duties:



  • EHS Bulletin Board and various postings.
  • WI and FCD updates as help needed.
  • Town of Blacksburg Recycle reports.
  • Evaluate and propose electronic MSDS system and manage.
  • Contribute to Safety Alert Newsletter.
  • Response Team List Updates.
  • Maintain Fork Truck license records (Excel).
  • Annual LO Updates and records filing after received from Value Stream Managers.
  • AIC Injury Database entries.
  • SDS's Database updates.
  • Annual training in RCRA Hazardous Waste, SWP3, HazWaste Security,Tri-Annual Dot Training.



Education



  • High School degree or equivalent or higher preferred; 2-year college degree preferred.


Experience



  • Proficient in Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, Word and general computer skills.

Accountability and Scope of Authority



  • All employees have the authority to perform their assigned job duties and to address the roles and responsibilities of their position.
  • Authorized to enforce the quality standards and systems for all products at the Blacksburg location.
  • Authorized to enforce Environmental Health & Safety Rules, Regulations, corporate EHS directives and EHS programs and systems at the Blacksburg facility.
  • Accountable for Adherence to the Zero Tolerance policy and practice of refusing to tolerate or allow behavior defined by Federal-Mogul as unacceptable in terms of safety (e.g. "unsafe behavior" meaning behavior that could lead to occupational injury or illness to a plant employee, contractor or visitor).
  • Accountable for complying with Environmental Health & Safety Rules and Regulations.
  • Must be able to understand what hazards are associated with his/her position and how to minimize them. All accidents/injuries no matter how slight must be reported to any member of management, and/or Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator as soon as possible.
  • Required to wear required personal protective equipment.


All employees will abide by the EH&S policy endorsed by the local management, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established under its EHSMS, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.
