Summary

This role performs financial planning and analysis across all financial statements, regularly updating forecasts,models, and work plans to align with business objectives and adapt to changing conditions. Key duties includefinancial analysis, scenario modeling, and reporting critical financial and operational metrics for managementdecision-making. The position compiles data, draws conclusions, and offers recommendations on spending,financing, and business strategies, ensuring actions support long-term goals.Under limited supervision, the role creates financial reports for leadership and stakeholders, supports the monthlyclose process, and communicates results clearly. It requires expertise in industry trends and regulatory finance,collaborates cross-functionally, provides ad hoc modeling for unique scenarios, and drives ongoing improvements infinancial performance and reporting.

Minimum Requirements

  • Degree in business, finance, accounting economics, mathematics or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Minimum five (5) years directly related experience in financial analysis, accounting, economic analysis or data analytics in any industry
  • OR minimum five (5) years business operations related experience in the utility or energy services industry.
  • In lieu of degree, an equivalent combination of formal education and experience totally ten (10) years is required.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of finance and economic analysis, corporate finance, utility regulation, utility operations. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong research, data management and effective management communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft applications (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.) and database tools.



Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:



  • MBA or Masters degree preferred.
  • Strong experience with related analytical, financial, database, and/or business operations tools (i.e., Oracle, PeopleSoft, PowerPlan, and Hyperion).
  • Travel may be required.

Major Accountabilities

1)Regularly update current work plans and long-range forecasts based on new information, check and adjuststrategies and make recommendations for any changes needed to achieve financial results.


2)Supports the monthly accounting close process including variance analysis, and preparation of varianceexplanations and communication to management for financial statement results. Ensures financial events andtransactions are reported to Accounting for proper financial statement recording and accounting treatment.


3)Collaborate with department staff in the evaluation of financial business scenarios. Develop ad hoc models tosupport unique scenarios or limited scope analysis with the various work streams O&M, Capital, corporate finance,sales and revenue forecasting, tax planning, regulatory, and accounting. Provide support in the formulation of modelinputs and processing of data through financial models.


4)Ensures compliance by maintaining appropriate documentation, files, records or systems.


5)Undertakes the development of limited scope financial and operational decision support and business unitplanning projects and initiatives.


6)Provide support in the development, compilation, presentation and communication of performance reportpackages for management monthly financial reporting package as well as scenario analysis results, includingidentification of significant findings and conclusions through the use of existing technology and strong understandingof business unit financial and regulatory and operations related data.


7)Provides training and support to business customers to ensure understanding of new or existing processes; mayalso provide training to team member within Finance & Accounting.


8)Maintains comprehensive knowledge of the primary emerging issues facing the industry and company businessspecifics.


9)Develops comprehensive understanding of company, unit policies and procedures, accounting practices, andfederal and state regulations.


10)Identifies or partners in identifying continuous improvement opportunities within the organization and incorporatecontinuous improvement principles and practices into business unit partnerships.
