Role Summary

The Senior Safety Integration Engineer is responsible for managing the integration of vehicle safety into complex vehicle systems and components across multiple domains. This role requires a project management-focused approach, ensuring that safety system development aligns with program timelines, deliverables, and cross-functional milestones. The ideal candidate in this position collaborates closely with engineering, validation, and compliance teams to track progress, manage risks, and drive the execution of safety-related initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage project plans for safety system integration, ensuring alignment with vehicle program milestones and safety targets, as well as providing status reports.
  • Track and monitor key safety deliverables, ensuring on-time execution of design, testing, and validation activities.
  • Serve as a central point of coordination between safety engineering, validation, homologation, and cross-functional teams, ensuring seamless collaboration.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to safety system development, escalating critical issues to safety leadership when necessary.
  • Work closely with test and analysis engineers to deliver performance criteria, track progress, and ensure successful execution of test plans.
  • Support program and change management processes, ensuring that design changes are implemented in alignment with safety and homologation requirements.
  • Engage in constructive discussions with cross-functional teams, listening to diverse perspectives while advocating for safety improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years experience in automotive safety, vehicle testing, or system integration.
  • Ability to travel to vehicle and component launch locations.
  • Strong working knowledge of FMVSS, ECE, NCAP and other automotive safety evaluation preferred.
  • Proven project management experience, with expertise in tracking milestones, managing risks, and coordinating teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and address potential roadblocks in safety system development.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, ensuring clear expectations and structured execution of safety initiatives.
  • Organized & Detail-Oriented: Ability to manage multiple project elements, ensuring clarity and accountability.
  • Proactive Risk Manager: Identifies potential safety integration challenges and develops mitigation strategies.
  • Effective Communicator: Ensures cross-functional alignment through structured reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Process-Driven: Focuses on improving safety system execution by enhancing workflows and tracking mechanisms.
  • Collaborative Leader: Engages teams effectively, ensuring alignment across multiple functions and stakeholders.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate range for California Based Applicants: $121,500-151,900 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law).

Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
