Job Summary The Smart Hands Technician provides on-site, hands-on technical support within a critical data center environment. This role supports daily operations by assisting with hardware installations, cable management, equipment maintenance, and coordination with remote technical teams. The position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to follow standard operating procedures, and comfort working in high-availability, secure environments. Job Responsibilities

Perform hardware installations, removals, and replacements for servers, switches, routers, and other data center equipment

Install, run, dress, terminate, and test copper and fiber cabling in accordance with structured cabling standards

Provide physical support for remote teams, including rack and stack activities, cable tracing, patching, and equipment reboots

Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to support hardware-related incidents and approved change requests

Document all work activities accurately within ticketing systems and adhere to established SOPs

Monitor environmental conditions such as temperature, humidity, and power, escalating issues when necessary

Respond to service requests and critical events in a timely and professional manner

Maintain a clean, organized, and secure data center workspace in compliance with security protocols
Job Requirements

Ability to lift, move, and position equipment weighing up to 75 pounds

Ability to climb ladders, operate scissor lifts, and work in confined spaces

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during assigned shifts

Comfort working in secure, climate-controlled data center environments

Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills

Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced, shift-based environment
Education
Work Experience
-
One to two years of hands-on experience in a data center, IT support, or related technical role

Familiarity with server hardware, cabling standards, and basic network troubleshooting

Experience reading and interpreting floor plans, rack elevations, and technical diagrams

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ticketing systems
