Job Summary
#CA-DS This position will be part of the Dean's Office analyst team and serves as the primary resource and administrator for academic personnel actions pertaining to members of the Academic Senate or Academic Federation Advancement actions within the School of Nursing. The incumbent will serve as the local AP expert conducting in-depth research on complex issues and problematic cases and recommend solutions. They are also required to work collaboratively with faculty and department staff to develop, monitor and submit complete and timely faculty packets for faculty advancements including merits, promotions, appraisals, five-year reviews and deferrals. - Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training
- Experience in an academic personnel setting required.
- Experience interpreting and articulating academic personnel policies, procedures and processes to advise others and participate in assessing business processes and projects accurately and consistently.
- Experience assessing problems and developing recommendations based on an understanding of policy and priorities, analysis of available information, and an awareness of current laws, issues and trends.
- Experience maintaining and protecting confidential information.
- Political acumen to handle sensitive issues diplomatically and tactfully with candidates, academic appointees in the SON and diverse individuals within all levels of the administrative spectrum across the UC Davis campus.
- Exceptional analytical skills with proven ability to analyze issues, develop strategic solutions and make professional recommendations to the Dean, Associate Dean and Assistant Dean.
- Exceptional organizational skills to initiate and complete projects, manage a complex workload, prioritize tasks and use good judgment in providing services based on goals in a fast paced working environment.
- Proven collaborative skills to participate actively as part of a team with excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively and maintain a good rapport with a large and diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to professionally and collaboratively convey information, and provide training and direction to other AP analysts.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to identify, assess, and creatively solve problems using available resources to meet deadlines to manage workload with minimal supervision.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate personnel action details to determine the time and sequence of events to be taken in accordance with established academic personnel policies.
- Advanced computer skills, knowledge of and expertise with computer programs such as WebEx, Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to understand and learn new technology programs and applications in order to implement and train faculty, students, staff on new software
- Analytical skills and experience to research and interpret data and policy, contribute to generalized system-wide resolutions and to make recommendations for customizing them to the UC Davis campus environment.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of policies and procedures.
- Critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills to research, analyze and interpret complex information.
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communications skills to effectively respond in a professional manner by email, in person, or by telephone.
- Strong organizational skills to coordinate large volumes of work and establish priorities.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience utilizing the Academic Personnel Manual to include faculty merit, appraisal and promotion process.
- Experience with UCD Academic Personnel, preferably within School of Nursing.
- Experience using MIV (MyInfoVault), UCPath, AggieService and the Academic Personnel History and Information Database (APHID).
- Experience training one-on-one and in a group setting.
- Working knowledge of the Academic Personnel Manual to include faculty merit, appraisal and promotion process.
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of UC policies and procedures governing Academic Senate, Academic Federation, Unit 18 and Academic bargaining units.
