Overview

The Section Manager will lead teams to develop and enhance the portfolio of products and applications under the Customer Energy Solutions (CES) Customer Analytics, Reporting, and Engagement (CARE) program. The CARE program seeks to enable the Clean Energy Future through digital products and tools that support our customers and our business programs. This role will be accountable for management of the product teams responsible for launching the CARE portfolio of products that include clean energy programs and rate recommendation tools. The Section Manager is responsible for oversight and strategic decision-making to the overall CARE portfolio, as well as delivering the product vision, strategy and development roadmap ensuring that the products are built with the end customer in mind. The ideal candidate must demonstrate the ability to develop a functional comprehension of the various CES business processes and programs.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Lead the CARE team: Direct and manage the product teams focused on delivery of the CARE portfolio of products and applications that support customers and the clean energy transition.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders: Work with business managers and stakeholders within Customer Energy Solutions, in addition to business and technical leads across multiple organizations such as Corporate Affairs, Electric Operations, and Information Technology to establish priorities and ensure end-to-end process alignment. Provide consistent, periodic updates to stakeholders on key initiatives, progress, and challenges across the CARE portfolio.
  • Develop and Coach Team Members: Mentor and support the growth of team members including; recommend training, provide feedback, and foster leadership development.
  • Resource Planning and Budget: Oversee resource allocation and project budgets within departmental guidelines, including administrative oversight of contractors and staff augmentees.
  • Establish and Execute CARE Strategy and Roadmap: Define, champion and deliver the strategic CARE portfolio of products to meet regulatory or business requirements, ensuring solutions are scalable and future-proof to support evolving regulatory requirements or business needs.
  • Measure and Report Value: Develop and track key metrics that drive engagement, meet regulatory requirements, and result in achieving the States clean energy goals
  • Customer Focus: Support a customer-centric culture,with an outside-in mindset, taking special interest in meeting the needs of external and internal stakeholders.
  • Direct research and analysis to determine business trends, forecasts and benchmarking with utilities and other businesses related to product use and development.
  • This role must understand regulatory policies and initiatives and critically assess priorities to develop strategic plans for product development and implementation.
  • Initiate and delegate program improvements across governance and intake processes
  • Provide a workplace environment that fosters professionalism, safety, honesty, courtesy, concern, excellence and teamwork.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and Eight (8) years of work experience
  • Master's Degree and Six (6) years of experience
Relevant Work Experience
  • Five years of managerial experience (directs/manages the workforce; drives for results). Required.
  • 3-5 years Experience with Microsoft office applications. Required.
  • 3-5 years Demonstrated experience leading digital product initiatives delivering measurable business value. Required.
  • 3-5 years Demonstrated ability to develop and execute long-term portfolio strategy focused on consistent delivery. Required.
  • 3-5 years Proven ability to oversee and plan for complex product or application portfolios in a dynamic environment. Required.
  • 3-5 years Strong communication and relationship management skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technical organizations. Required.
  • 3-5 years Strong financial and analytical skills related to program, application and resource management. Required.
  • 3-5 years Experience managing resource allocation and cross-functional team coordination for parallel development streams. Required.
  • 3-5 years Experience providing clear and concise communication regarding program status to leadership teams. Required.
  • 3-5 years Demonstrated experience overseeing quality assurance processes and testing frameworks related to products or enterprise system releases. Required.
  • 3-5 years Demonstrated experience leading large scale, complex product deployment cycles. Preferred.
  • 3-5 years Experience developing professional reports or regulatory filings. Preferred.
  • 2 years Experience in clean energy, energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, or electrification programs. Preferred.
  • 2 years Demonstrated familiarity with New York State's Reforming the Energy Vision and CLCPA. Preferred.

Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
