Project Cost Estimator

The ability of the estimation team and larger sales organization to provide business proposals in a timely manner is critical to growing the business. The timeliness and professionalism of our proposals provides our customers with their first impression of PCI and our processes. This role will allow us to have a focused and streamlined estimation process for supporting the sales team proposal needs and grow the business.

  • Collaborate strategically with sales teams, business unit managers, and customers to deeply understand the scope and objectives of each business opportunity, ensuring alignment with organizational growth goals.

  • Partner with Cost Estimating and Sales leadership to define a competitive and innovative strategic approach that maximizes profitability and client satisfaction.

  • Work closely with Package Design teams to develop optimized, cost-effective, and sustainable packaging solutions that meet client requirements and enhance brand value.

  • Engage Purchasing and vendor partners to secure high-quality materials at competitive costs, while proactively assessing supply chain risks and opportunities for efficiency.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Cost Estimating Manager and Sr. VP of Sales, to establish pricing strategies that balance market competitiveness with margin objectives.

  • Lead the creation of compelling, client-focused proposal formats that clearly communicate value propositions and differentiate PCI in the marketplace.

  • Facilitate open, solution-oriented discussions with Design and Engineering teams, driving innovative process recommendations that improve operational efficiency and client outcomes.

  • Evaluate and recommend optimal equipment and processes, hosting strategy sessions with engineering to ensure scalability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness for each project.

  • Determine staffing models, production speeds, and efficiency benchmarks to deliver projects on time and within budget, while maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Track and report key performance metrics aligned with senior leadership expectations, using data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Demonstrate flexibility by supporting overtime and weekend work when required, ensuring critical deadlines and client commitments are met.

  • Maintain strict compliance with PCI, cGMP, and GCP policies and procedures, fostering a culture of quality and regulatory excellence.

  • Ensure consistent and reliable attendance, recognizing its critical role in team success and operational continuity.

  • Proactively take on additional responsibilities as assigned, contributing to team objectives and organizational growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Packing Engineering or related field

  • 1-3 years related experience and/or training.

  • College Level Mathematical Skills

  • Intermediate Computer Skills: Ability to perform more complex computer tasks and has knowledge of various computer programs.

  • Full Professional Proficiency: Ability to speak, read, and write fluently and accurately on all levels pertinent to professional needs.

  • Very High Reasoning: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Be able to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in math or diagram form and deal with several abstract/concrete variables.

Preferred:

  • Ability to travel and be onsite when required in the Philadelphia PA office

  • Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.

  • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.

  • Ability to display excellent time management skils
