Job Summary

Directly manages simulation pedagogy and staff in the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences (NWCNHS) Diane Ramy Faulconer Simulation Teaching and Research (STAR) Center. Responsible for ensuring that all activities are conducted according to established goals and objectives for the Simulation Teaching and Research (STAR) Center. This position reports the Director of the STAR Center.

  • Manages the operational task of healthcare simulation facilitation by interfacing with STAR Center Administration, Members of the Faculty, Simulation Education Coordinators, Simulation Facilitators, and other team members to develop, implement, and supervise the facilitation process of teaching/learning in accordance with best practices in healthcare.
  • Supervises Simulation Facilitators, student workers as appropriate, establish goals, identifies professional development opportunities, and evaluates performance as required.
  • Manages the training and assures regular evaluation of all Simulation Facilitators using Evidenced Based Practice (EBP) available for evaluation.
  • Coordinates the simulation calendar with the director to determine need for facilitators.
  • Manages facilitators to collaborate with members of the faculty of the academic departments of the College to implement simulation and promote the Simulation Teaching Unit (STU) approach to teaching/learning in healthcare simulation.
  • Remains active in facilitating simulation teaching and learning and stays current in debriefing methods across a wide variety of disciplines.
  • Provides consultative expertise as the most senior simulation facilitator in the NWCNHS. Represents the Center as a member of the STAR Center Administration responsible for Simulation Education. Serves as a resource to the Center and provides active engagement with other leaders in the Center (Technology, Support, and Management).
  • Actively recruits and maintains a roster of facilitators to meet the needs of the Center. Manages contracts of adjunct facilitators on a regular basis, works with STAR Center Administration to determine budget and scope of work needed for sustained staffing of facilitators.
  • Provides initial training and manages credentialing program of everyone delivering facilitation of learning (including debriefing) within the Center.
  • Works with clinical faculty to deliver clinical experiences in a simulated environment as part of the Simulation Teaching Unit (STU).
  • Supports the development of simulation curriculum with technical knowledge of the simulation center capabilities and procedures to ensure that curriculum is accurate and appropriate.
  • Serve as a senior floor Manager for all Simulation Staff and Fulltime facilitators, Technicians, and Student Support Specialists during all simulation events, open and didactic labs, and reports to Director.
  • Performs related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree and two (2) years of experience.


Desired Qualifications
  • BLS and/or ACLS certification.
  • Experience in health professions.
  • Knowledge of simulation pedagogy and best practices of simulation (SSH) (INASCL) application.
