As a Forest Maintenance Worker, your role will encompass a range of critical tasks aimed at ensuring the health and safety of the forest. This includes the upkeep, repair, and construction of State Forest roads, facilities, and equipment within Rothrock State Forest. Additionally, you will play a key role in wildland fire suppression, as well as fire prevention and pre-suppression initiatives. Collaborating closely with seasoned staff and fellow workers, you will thrive in a team-oriented environment that prioritizes effective task execution. There may also be opportunities to serve as part of Pennsylvania's Specialized Wildland Fire Crew, responding to federal emergency incidents outside the state.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Seasonal full-time employment. The season runs from approximately March 2026, through November 2026, at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment March 2027.
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday - Wednesday, 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Thursday, with a 30-minute lunch.

• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or
• An equivalent combination of experience and training.

• This position require possession of a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:
