Job Summary

The Hotline Clinical Specialist will answer incoming calls on the Goldschmidt Collective's reproductive health warmline, as appropriate to their training/relevant clinical experience, to ensure timely delivery of expert clinical education and perform administrative/operational duties that accompany the overall work of the project. Specific activities will include: collecting and documenting information to ensure accurate and complete call data for reporting and other program purposes/activities; collaborating with NCCC personnel including other Hotline Clinical Specialists and program/administrative team members; performing critical assessments of the available clinical evidence base; participating in promotional/outreach activities and quality improvement activities as needed (this may include development of clinical protocols and educational resources); preparing information/materials to distribute to callers as needed; liaising with internal and external learners as needed; and helping to assure compliance with relevant regulatory bodies/agencies as needed.

Hotline Clinical Specialists will interface with diverse stakeholders with various experiences and will need to apply a warm, non-coercive, and non-judgmental manner and consistently demonstrate interpersonal tact, discretion, sensitivity, and integrity, particularly around maintaining anonymity and confidentiality. Hotline Clinical Specialists are asked to help cultivate and support relatively standardized program workflows and processes to help ensure high-quality services are consistently provided and that program goals are met.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $110,400 - $235,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Reproductive Health Hotline (ReproHH) is a program of the Goldschmidt Collective which is a unit within the Department of Family & Community Medicine. As part of the Goldschmidt Collective's focus on supporting U.S. based healthcare providers, ReproHH provides rapid, state-of-the-art reproductive and sexual health care education and guidance to health care providers (physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists and other health care professionals including health care professional learners) across the country through a toll-free phone number and online services.

Its core clinical education topic areas include:

* Complex contraception, early pregnancy assessment, miscarriage management, and early abortion provision (as indicated)

Required Qualifications


  • Doctoral degree in medicine
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience providing reproductive health clinical services, including diagnosis/evaluation of early pregnancy and related complications, and complex contraception management
  • Minimum 5 years of prior experience critically assessing the available clinical evidence base, including analysis of clinical studies as well as new developments and approaches in clinical practice and/or consultation
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills. Strong diplomacy skills and ability to develop strong working relationships with the department, leadership, subject matter experts, and external agencies. Proven ability to advise and influence all levels of leadership and staff
  • Demonstrated competence in the following areas: clinical practice, communication, clinical case management, leadership, problem identification and resolution, and clinical teaching/training
  • Demonstrated ability to document encounters accurately and in a timely manner
  • Expert knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices. Expert ability to facilitate educational technology opportunities using technology-based solutions

Preferred Qualifications


  • Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Pediatrics, or OBGYN
  • Expert knowledge of current and emerging educational technologies to enhance teaching and learning practices. Expert ability to facilitate educational technology opportunities using technology-based solutions
  • Prior experience training/educating diverse groups of clinical learners
  • Direct or previous experience working in states with minimal access to reproductive health care services
  • Experience working cross-functionally with clinical and non-clinical stakeholders

License/Certification


  • Valid MD/DO License in California (or pending in CA)
