DESCRIPTION OF WORK

An engineering intern within the Bureau of Operations, specifically in the Highway Safety and Traffic Operations Division, will engage in a comprehensive analysis of crash data related to various incidents, including wrong-way crashes, freeway cross-median collisions, incidents involving vulnerable road users (VRUs), and lane departures, among others. The role will also involve evaluating specific locations to identify potential safety enhancements, assessing the effectiveness of existing safety countermeasures, and applying analytical techniques as outlined in the AASHTO Highway Safety Manual. This internship presents an excellent opportunity to hone your technical abilities, bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, and collaborate with dedicated engineering professionals who emphasize innovation and high-quality standards in their work.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time internship that will run from May 2026 through August 2026
- Work hours will vary based on position
- Compensation is credit based:
- Less than 90 credits - $21.23
- Over 90 credits - $22.13
- Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
