Lafayette Group is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual to support strategic communications efforts for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). This position will promote awareness and adoption of CISA's cybersecurity programs and initiatives.

Under direction of the team lead, the Communications Specialist will work with members of the strategic communications team to conceptualize and execute communications campaigns, develop new ideas that strengthen existing communications practices, and deliver products that exceed client expectations. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can manage individual tasks in the context of broader team projects, has excellent writing/editing skills, and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. This position requires the ability to distill complex technical information into clear, accessible language for technical and non-technical audiences and keen attention to detail.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of strategic communications campaigns and related collateral for a variety of audiences including the client organization and its external stakeholder groups.
  • Draft talking points, fact sheets, web content, and white papers; develop slide decks, and capture meeting minutes.
  • Review written materials for grammar, flow, and formatting aligned to the CISA style guide.
  • Use project management skills to track milestones, provide status updates, coordinate with team members, and provide progress details to team leads.
  • Generate ideas for new products that support organizational goals and work with internal stakeholders to identify areas of overlap and potential coordination to align disparate goals, content, and messaging.
  • Provide strategic communication subject matter expertise and support communications processes, practices, planning, and coordination.
  • Build strong relationships with team members and clients.



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 3+ years of strategic communications experience.
  • Advanced competency using Microsoft Office tools, including SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated advanced writing and editing skills, including experience in AP Style and plain language.
  • Strong client relationship building skills and the ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment and ability to use critical thinking skills to navigate ambiguity, anticipate potential barriers to success, and brainstorm solutions.
  • Ability to manage and follow complex processes and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Strong project coordination skills and ability to tackle multiple competing projects at once.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DHS suitability, which will require successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting.



Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience/strong familiarity in the IT or cybersecurity industries
  • 2+ years of federal government consulting experience
  • Existing DHS or CISA Entry on Duty (EOD) status


Location: Arlington, VA

Federal Contracts: This position involves working on federal contracts that require all workers on the contract to be U.S. Citizens. Additionally, some contracts may require the ability to obtain a security clearance.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000
