Responsibilities

The position provides the opportunity for enhancement of clinical, supervisory, and program development skills. Riveredge Hospital is dedicated to providing quality trauma informed behavioral health services to children, adolescents, and adults throughout a full continuum of care. The hospital offers inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient services, as well as a residential treatment program.

Riveredge Hospital is a Joint Commission Top Performer. Riveredge Hospital is also a part of Universal Health Services, Inc., a national healthcare company with over 30 years of expertise in providing both behavioral and medical care to communities.

We serve a culturally diverse patient population, who present with problems ranging from adjustment disorders to psychosis. We are also the only facility in Illinois with an inpatient unit devoted solely to patients with Intellectual Disability. We also have a residential treatment program for sexually offending youth.

Riveredge Hospital has a supportive and collegial working environment. Applicants should possess strong clinical skills, leadership qualities, strong verbal and writing skills, and the ability to work independently. Supervision and training of psychology externs is an important aspect of the position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise individual clinical psychology graduate extern students providing psychological assessment and/or therapy.
  • Participate in group supervision of practicum site students.
  • Provide professional mentorship for students as indicated.
  • Provide consultation to program director and other site professionals as indicated.
  • Provide evaluation and review of student progress.
  • Provide didactic presentations during group supervision to facilitate professional development.
  • Lead and co-lead therapy groups.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations as needed.
  • Facilitate daily functioning of Psychology Services.
  • Facilitate program development.
  • Provide clinical consultation, administrative consultation, and staff education as needed, working collaboratively with Psychology Services and other hospital disciplines.
  • Knowledge of general and psychiatric principles, working concepts and theory, in the context of psychological assessment and therapy.
  • Able to work cooperatively with other site staff and involved community agencies.
  • Demonstrate good organizational and communications skills, with the ability to provide quality documentation.
  • Able to establish and maintain good working relationships with hospital staff, patients, families, and outside referral sources.
  • Is open and respectful of cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of clients and is willing and competent to work with a diverse client population.

Qualifications

Education/Job Experience/ Certification:

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in psychology from an APA-accredited institution.

Must be Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois.

Experience providing psychological services to patients with significant mental health concerns, including experience leading groups.

Experience supervising psychology trainees.

Effective verbal and written communication skills.
