The position will be responsible for the fiscal management of clinical research studies conducted within the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center (IIRC). Works on pre award activities including building and negotiating budgets in accordance with the study protocol, as well as managing amendment budget builds and negotiations. Assures accuracy of study budgets to ensure financial sustainability. Tracks progress of clinical trials through the study startup process.

Reports to the Clinical Trials Fiscal Program Manager for the Immunotherapy Integrated Research Center. Works closely with IIRC faculty and staff, physicians, and other clinical providers and support staff within and outside of the Fred Hutch and UW system. Establishes and maintains professional relationship with study sponsors and regulatory agencies.

Responsibilities

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

Responsible for the pre award and amendment management of the IIRC clinical trial portfolio including building and negotiating clinical trial budgets, and working with the IIRC Clinical Research Office staff. Works independently and in cooperation with internal and external stakeholders to direct operations and manage professional relationships with customers (investigators), Center finance, and pharmaceutical sponsors.

JOB DUTIES:

    Work with IIRC faculty, Clinical Research Support, and Office of the General Counsel to develop, negotiate, and manage highly complex clinical trial budgets, working directly with faculty and staff to anticipate new study support needs and budget accordingly.
  • Responsible for budget amendments to reflect revisions to study protocols. Process includes submitting budget through the consortium system, revising and negotiating the original budget.
  • Reviews study calendars against protocol schedule of assessments for accuracy and works with central clinical trial support to ensure accuracy.
  • Partners with the IIRC post award fiscal staff to determine appropriate costs for budget amendments.
  • Provide ongoing cost analysis for studies to ensure clinical trials are adequately funded; provide budget information to Alliance Management for negotiation of budget revisions with sponsors.
  • When needed, assists post award with patient bills, travel reimbursements and sponsor invoices.


Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance or equivalent education/experience.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in accounting or finance, preferable in a research or not-for-profit environment.
  • Working knowledge of financial information and related operational statistics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 years fiscal management of Phase I-III clinical trials
  • Experience working with REDCap and CTMS.
  • Extremely strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills required
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Excel and Word

The annual base salary range for this position is from $80,475 to $120,682, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
