Job Description

UMKC School of Dentistry, a leader in the advancement of oral healthcare, is seeking an experienced and self-motivated Business Support Specialist II to provide administrative support. This is a growth opportunity for the right candidate interested Finance & Accounting, Higher Education, and Healthcare.

The position will work closely with the Dean of Business Affairs, to support efficient operation of the Dental School through a variety of tasks. Specific duties include but are not limited to:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage parking operations at the Dental School
  • Managing contract employee on-boarding, replacement, and invoicing
  • Manage insurance credentialing for faculty and students
  • Manage advertising as required by the UMKC Diversity recruitment plan.
  • Create and Distribute monthly, quarterly and annual reports
  • Assist with Payroll Reconciliation, purchasing and deposits as needed
  • Assist Building Coordinator with facilities issues
  • Provide administrative support the Assistant Dean for Engagement and Wellness
  • Handling the office phone, greeting and directing faculty, students, staff and visitors in a courteous and professional manner. Provide information by answering questions and requests.
  • Organizing and scheduling meetings
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications

An Associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Friendly and professional demeanor
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and database software (e.g., PeopleSoft)
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and take on additional responsibilities

Preferred Experience:

  • Previous administrative experience
  • Accounts payable or receivable
  • Project management skills
Anticipated Hiring Range

$19.50 - $21.50 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and internal equity.
