Job Summary

The Director of the Office of the SVP & Strategic Initiatives will work directly with the Senior Vice President of Institutional Advancement (IA) as their principal designee in overseeing their key initiatives, projects and communications. They will proactively manage, coordinate and streamline the flow of information and collaborate with all levels of staff to ensure that the Office is properly represented and aligned with strategic goals and priorities. The Director will serve as a liaison to the Office of the President, board members and stakeholders across the University.

The Director will supervise the Executive Administrator who is responsible for the scheduling, travel arrangements, business support, correspondence and record documentation for the Senior Vice President.

Essential Functions



  • Works closely with the Senior Vice President and the IA Executive Leadership Team to prioritize and advance strategic fundraising and engagement initiatives.
  • Effectively manages deliverables and progress on key projects and action items.
  • Serves as the primary point person for the Senior Vice President to manage the flow of information within the Office.
  • Collaborates with staff across the division.
  • Directs communications on behalf of the SVP, including correspondence and talking points.
  • Proactively partners with the Office of the President, the Office of Protocol & Special Events, Prospect Development, and others across the university to prepare comprehensive briefings and materials in advance of donor visits, meetings and events.
  • Creates and manages high level documentation and communications for the board; assumes oversight for the Institutional Advancement Committee meetings, activities and follow.
  • Serves as a responsive point of contact for board members, donors and volunteer leaders interacting with Institutional Advancement and the SVP.
  • Employs sound judgment, speaking on behalf of the Senior Vice President to various constituencies and accurately representing the Office on matters of importance.
  • Serves as an advisor and strategist on meeting objectives, participants and approach.
  • Supervises an Executive Administrator to effectively manage the calendar and administrative support for the Senior Vice President and other IA leadership as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 5 years' related experience supporting executive level staff, including demonstrated success in strategic communication, development and project management within higher education.
  • Proven track record of effectively staffing senior leadership.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work diplomatically and collaboratively with senior leaders across the institution.
  • Highly motivated and organized.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365.
  • Strong project management Skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and display sound judgment, confidentiality and professionalism to represent the Senior Vice President to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment and to juggle several projects at once with a spirit of flexibility and a positive outlook.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Proficiency with Ellucian ADVANCE and Tableau.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade N. Compensation for this grade ranges from $90,430 - $135,640 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
