- Operates and monitors ammonia refrigeration systems including compressors, condensers, evaporators, and control systems in compliance with OSHA regulations and PSM/RMP requirements across all assigned shifts
- Monitors instrumentation, gauges, and computerized data systems; adjusts controls manually or via computer to maintain optimal operating parameters and responds to alarms and system irregularities
- Performs system start-ups, shutdowns, and operational adjustments during production runs while ensuring safe and efficient equipment performance
- Conducts routine inspections and logs critical system data including pressures, temperatures, and operating parameters; maintains accurate documentation of daily operations and system performance
- Assists with maintenance and repairs on refrigeration components including compressors, valves, pumps, purgers, and piping systems; identifies and communicates equipment needs and procurement requirements
- Provides operational support for plant utilities including boilers, air compressors, water systems, fire suppression systems, and HVAC equipment
- Creates and updates work orders in CMMS; maintains comprehensive records of maintenance activities and equipment performance
- Supports facility inspections, audits, safety programs, and regulatory documentation; provides maintenance support for non-refrigerated mechanical systems as needed
- All other duties assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED with completion of formal trades training program, or equivalent combination of education and maintenance experience
- Prior experience in industrial refrigeration, mechanical systems, or HVAC with hands-on ammonia (NH) refrigeration systems experience including compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, valves, and control systems
- Strong understanding of industrial refrigeration principles, thermodynamics, and electrical/mechanical fundamentals; ability to read and interpret P&IDs, schematics, operating manuals, and alarm setpoints
- Have or ability to obtain RETA certification within 6 months; certification or degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance preferred
- Proficiency in computer applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and CMMS systems
- Demonstrated safety leadership with knowledge of LOTO procedures, food safety, and GMP standards; strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, take initiative, and respond effectively to unplanned/emergency work requests
- Strong interpersonal skills with ability to build partnerships, contribute to team success, and communicate effectively across departments
- Physical capability to lift 50+ lbs, work in cold/freezer environments, and work at heights
- Flexibility to work all shifts (days/evenings/overnights), extended hours, and weekends as required
Shift: 1st (6a-2:30p) Pay: $35-45/hour Aspire Bakeries LLC values the contribution each Team Member brings to our organization.
