Be part of an amazing story.

Macy's is more than just a store. We're a story. One that's captured the hearts and minds of America for more than 160 years. A story about innovations and traditions...about inspiring stores and irresistible products...about the excitement of the Macy's 4th of July Fireworks, and the wonder of the Thanksgiving Day Parade. We've been part of memorable moments and milestones for countless customers and colleagues. Those stories are part of what makes this such a special place to work.

Job Overview

The Designer Specialist plays a pivotal role in reshaping an iconic brand for the next era of retail. This role supports Macy's bold transformation-one driven by creativity, technology, and imagination-by building forward-looking design experiences rather than iterating on the past. The Designer Specialist thrives at the intersection of culture, innovation, fashion, and emerging technology, viewing design as storytelling, emotion, and movement, not just layouts on a page.

As a core creative contributor, the Designer Specialist concepts, designs, and produces breakthrough creative across every consumer touchpoint. This role works across digital, print, motion, broadcast, and in-store experiences to deliver work that feels modern, elevated, and memorable. Through next-generation creative thinking, immersive storytelling, AI-enhanced innovation, and boundary-pushing design, the Designer Specialist helps redefine how millions of customers shop, discover, and experience a legendary brand.

What You Will Do

  • Concept and design bold, engaging, multi-channel campaign creative across digital, print, motion, video, broadcast, and in-store environments.
  • Develop omnichannel design assets-including seasonal style guides, templates, and scalable systems-that advance the brand and ensure consistency.
  • Create storyboards and narrative-driven concepts that translate ideas into emotionally resonant visual experiences.
  • Apply curiosity, experimentation, and strategic thinking throughout the creative process, from concept to execution.
  • Collaborate closely with Creative, Marketing, Digital Experience, and Photo Studio teams to deliver cohesive, relevant, and future-forward experiences.
  • Use typography, color, layout, motion, and emerging media to craft compelling visual communications grounded in insight and creativity.
  • Leverage AI-powered ideation, trend research, and cultural awareness to inspire innovative, forward-thinking creative.
  • Produce high-quality, production-ready assets with precision and attention to detail across digital and print channels.
  • Present and articulate creative concepts and rationale to partners and leadership with clarity, confidence, and enthusiasm.
  • Contribute to a collaborative, curious, and innovative team culture by sharing ideas, supporting peers, and mentoring others.
  • Foster an environment of acceptance and respect that strengthens relationships, and ensures authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and communities.
  • In addition to the essential duties mentioned above, other duties may be assigned.
