Washing Systems, LLC (WSI), now part of the Kao family of companies, is seeking a Regulatory Compliance Specialist to join our thriving team. The Regulatory Compliance Specialist will be responsible for ensuring that the company's chemical products, operations, and processes comply with all applicable federal, state, local, and international regulations. Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, this role supports product stewardship, regulatory submissions, compliance monitoring, and internal guidance related to chemical regulations, environmental health and safety (EHS), and customer requirements. The position will work cross-functionally with R&D, Supply Chain, and Sales to maintain compliance throughout the product lifecycle.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBLITIES AND TASKS:

Responsibilities and tasks are written as follows:



  1. Monitor, interpret, and communicate regulatory requirements applicable to chemical products and manufacturing operations, including but not limited to TSCA, EPA, OSHA, DOT, REACH, CLP, GHS, FDA (as applicable), and state-specific regulations.



  1. Maintain awareness of emerging and changing regulations and assess potential business impacts.
  2. Develop and maintain internal compliance procedures, guidance documents, and regulatory trackers.
  3. Prepare, review, and maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS), labels, and product classifications in accordance with GHS and regional requirements.
  4. Support product registrations, notifications, and filings with regulatory agencies.
  5. Review raw material and finished product compositions for regulatory compliance and restricted substance requirements.
  6. Respond to customer, distributor, and regulatory inquiries related to product compliance.
  7. Support internal and external audits related to regulatory compliance and EHS requirements.
  8. Assist with regulatory reporting, recordkeeping, and data submissions.
  9. Identify compliance gaps and collaborate with stakeholders to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  10. Partner with R&D on new product development to ensure regulatory compliance early in the design process.
  11. Support supply chain and procurement with supplier compliance documentation and evaluations.
  12. Provide regulatory training and guidance to internal teams as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, or a related scientific discipline required.
  • 3-5 years of regulatory compliance or regulatory affairs experience within the chemical, specialty chemical, or related manufacturing industry.
  • Hands-on experience with chemical regulations such as TSCA, OSHA Hazard Communication, GHS, EPA, and international frameworks (e.g., REACH).


  • Strong understanding of chemical regulatory frameworks and compliance principles.
  • Experience authoring or managing SDS and chemical labeling.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to interpret complex regulations and translate them into practical business guidance.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency with regulatory databases, SDS authoring tools, and Microsoft Office applications.


PREFFERED SKILLS:



  • Experience supporting global regulatory compliance (EU, Canada, Asia-Pacific).
  • Familiarity with EHS management systems and quality systems.
  • Professional certification such as RAC (Regulatory Affairs Certification) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager).
