General Description: This position has primary responsibility for the development and sales growth of the EV Charging Lighting market segments. And a focus on Utility company incentive and rebate programs and the implementation and processing of those programs for SYD.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following, but subject to change in response to industry requirements and personnel expertise.
Lighting Energy Savings and Design Build
- Receive project assignments from Construction Coordinator, O/S and or Direct from customer.
- Review project design requirements
- Determine material / vendors needed to meet design requirements
- Verify or establish foot candle level that meets or exceeds IES standards
- Utilize AGI / CAD software to complete lighting design
- Run calculation to confirm that design meets or exceeds PA State Energy Code requirements
- Coordinate.
- Obtain project pricing from selected vendor
- Calculate Project ROI and prepare customer presentation
- Present final presentation to customer and work to close sale.
Lighting Controls
- Receive project assignments from Construction Coordinator, O/S, Lighting Specialist and or Direct from customer.
- Review project design requirements
- Determine material / vendors needed to meet design requirements
- Run calculation to confirm that design meets or exceeds PA State Energy Code requirements for controls
- Coordinate lighting control requirements with customers and produce bill of material to satisfy project requirements
- Obtain project pricing from selected vendor
- Transmit final Design Documents to applicable contractors as well as SYD O/S personnel
- Perform commissioning/startup responsibilities on design build and plan spec typed projects
- Continue to stay updated on vendor lighting control systems, via training or vendor correspondence
- Provide end-user training on lighting control systems.
Utility Rebates
- Maintain up to date information with Utilities about their rebate programs through communication with Utility program managers
- Responsible for updating SYD on current state of Utility rebates as rebates change
- Work with all sales to help utilize Utility rebate on a job-by-job bases
- Responsible for collecting SYD rebate data to be submitted to Utilities for rebate reimbursement collection
- Submit monthly Utility rebate reimbursements using Utility program managers' online portals
Energy Related Emerging Markets
- Responsible for discovery, investigation and helping to launch efforts into emerging energy-related markets
- Support and grow existing EV Charging sales
- Assumes overall responsibility for coordinating Lighting and EV charging project sales activities with the outside sales reps as well as target customers.
- Maintain sales outreach by keeping customers informed about available services, grants, rebates and new products relating to Lighting, EV and other emerging markets through collaboration with the SYD Marketing team.
- Establish solid working relationships with vendors, SYD outside sales representatives as well as Territory managers and other sales related personnel as it relates to growing our EV Charging and Energy business.
Post Bid Responsibilities
- Collect and communicate any feedback from Customers and Salespeople to Vendors, and adjust Bid accordingly
- Bid follow up discussions in coordination with outside sales
- Solicit buy pricing from appropriate vendors to use in assisting with project negotiations to help secure order
- Once order is awarded to SYD solicit and compile material price breakdowns
- Compile and deliver Design Specification documents based on project specific requirements
- Convert existing bid to Sales order and produce and send Purchase orders to vendors
- Compile Project Management documentation and communicate with customer throughout project to provide proper level of project management
Other Duties
- Identify, add new and maintain current QPL list and coordinate with purchasing so that SYD has best possible offering on all available utility midstream programs.
- Research and Identify vendor partners that will assist us in our growth strategy in the EV Charging/Lighting markets
- Recommend products and services that SYD should consider stocking or providing to support the growth of the Energy market segment

- Product recommendations
- Purchase material in Solar/Job Management as required
- Track and expedite material to meet customer timelines as needed
- Maintain Solar/Job Management sales data by continually cancelling Bids and providing price feedback
- Participate in joint planning and sales calls with other SYD team members as well as manufacturer's representatives
- Submit expense reports and car mileage as assigned.
- Maintain records and reports on sales activity including but not limited to the daily entry of all sales calls into CRM; bids and quotations; customer and vendor contact field updates; cancellation of outdated quotations; submission of business forecast reports to the Sales Manager.
- Find and communicate other product sales opportunities by assigning O/S personnel or I/S personnel to capture pull through business within SYD scope of supply.
Knowledge / Experience / Education
* High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Understanding of basic electrical principles and systems
- Electrical/Lighting industry experience preferred
- Knowledge of lighting and electrical distribution equipment products
- Experience with related computer software preferred (Microsoft Products, Adobe Professional, CAD or CAD based Design software) that affect or touch our daily productivity
- Solar/Job Management experience Preferred
