The Federal Civilian business unit supports many customers spanning the federal, commercial, and nonprofit space. Our customers include NASA, the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, the Library of Congress, Health & Human Services, and the FDIC. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact. Primary Responsibilities: Staff Software Engineer - Front End Engineer will create the intelligent, responsive interfaces that transform how Americans interact with public health information in the digital age. They'll build user experiences that seamlessly blend traditional content with AI-powered features. This may include displaying chatbot responses in an accessible conversational UI, visualizing health data that updates in real-time, or creating smart forms that adapt based on user input. This engineer will tackle unique challenges like rendering AI-generated content with appropriate confidence indicators, building interfaces that gracefully handle uncertain or evolving health information, and ensuring that complex features remain usable for people with varying technical and health literacy levels. Working closely with the AI/ML team, they'll implement frontend patterns for streaming responses, error states for AI features, and feedback mechanisms that improve model performance. Their work ensures the interface responds instantly, displays information clearly, and maintains the trust in public health digital experiences, all while preparing the frontend architecture to accommodate future AI capabilities that haven't been invented yet.
