Job Description

Provides direction, oversight and coordination of quality management, performance improvement activities across the health system. Advises on the design and execution of quality management programs and performance improvement efforts that support patient safety and ongoing enhancement of service to patients and customers of the health system.

Job Responsibility




  • Provides strategic advice and guidance to the Clinical Quality Management & Performance Improvement functions.
  • Advises and works with health system team to apply appropriate methodologies and relevant quality tools to evaluate results and support patient safety.
  • Advises on the analysis of performance data with comparison over time and comparisons to internal and external benchmarks to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensures plans and designs are consistent with internal and external expectations for accreditation, regulatory compliance, and public reporting as required. Maintains current knowledge of regulatory agency requirements pertaining to Quality Management/Performance Improvement activities. Participates in continuous survey readiness activities as required.
  • Advises/participates in Root Cause Analysis studies and performance improvement activities with risk reduction strategies to mitigate or prevent adverse events when applicable.
  • Supports Patient Safety through active participation in the identification of actual or potential patient safety issues; oversees the development of appropriate risk reduction strategies, use of tools, and methods that support patient safety.
  • Serves as liaison between Northwell Health and its entities/service lines to support implementation and integration of performance; and quality improvement processes to optimize patient outcomes, enhance operational effectiveness and facilitate healthy communities.
  • Provides education and training related to quality management/performance improvement.
  • Participates in organizational committees, as applicable.

Job Qualification




  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required. Master's Degree, preferred.
    Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse, in New York State, plus specialized certifications as needed.
  • 5+ years of clinical nursing experience and minimum of 5+ years of experience related to quality/ performance improvement or other related experience required.
