Maintenance Lead/MRO Planner

Duties and Responsibilities:





  • Primary Role- MRO/Planner
  • Parts purchasing/Req's
  • Inventory- critical parts, monthly, annual
  • Incoming Package Receiving- Upon arrival log, get packages to correct area, put all maintenance parts away
  • Goods Receipts
  • Contractor Management- SLAM forms, scheduling them for work, Safety Qualification forms
  • Monthly On Call Rotation to assist on-shift techs as needed
  • Working Lead Role as needed- Perform both unscheduled work as well as preventative/predictive maintenance on equipment daily to help achieve a goal of zero downtime and one hundred percent efficiency.
  • Inspect and Audit key department projects and work orders
  • First step escalation contact for maintenance techs when on shift- responsible for escalating to maintenance manager
  • Properly document all repair discrepancies, order replacement parts and complete outstanding work orders.
  • Provide feedback to manager to assist in evaluations of employees
  • Fill in for vacation, sick or otherwise vacant spots, with little notice at times
  • Correct GMP discrepancies.
  • Oversee pass down issues with night shift
  • Make recommendations that identify and eliminate problems within the work areas which helps the company further the Continuous Improvement process.
  • Proficient in maintenance management systems; CMMS.


* Support the installation of new equipment, including support and implementation of preventive maintenance program

* Communicate with the Purchasing Agent to ensure needed parts are ordered and proper inventories are in place

* Assist machine operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize equipment downtime

* Oversee maintenance department while Maintenance Manager is on vacation

* Participate in plant committees and programs

* Safeguard and protect all company assets in his or her care

* Make decisions in a timely manner

* Consistently show the ability to recognize and deal with priorities

* Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees in maintenance as well as from all other departments

* Ensure all repairs are documented

* Complete work orders as assigned

* Attend all required training- safety, food safety, etc.



  • Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
  • Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements


* Work schedule includes rotating on call schedule- alternating every other week with the maintenance manager to include weekends as needed

* Work opposite shift of Maintenance Manager to expand support to the plant

Required Minimum Qualifications:


Education and Experience



  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Prior maintenance experience required
  • PLC Programming preferred.




Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge company computer systems, specifically SAP
  • Knowledge of machine shop equipment
  • Skill in proficient computer usage

  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and engineering prints.
  • Able to perform mechanical overhauls on pumps, motor bearing changes, and piping projects
  • Able to lead and instruct others on the proper and safe procedures
  • Able to perform electrical repairs such as motor wiring, motor starter fuses, and basic electrical trouble shooting and repairs
  • Able to demonstrate and teach the need and process of using safety gear, including gas monitors and full body harnesses
  • Knowledge and utilization of SAP system including monitoring work orders from open to close, accounting for man hours, and acquiring and accounting for spare parts using the SAP system as directed by Maintenance Manager.


* Compressor- Air, Ammonia and Freon / certification



  • Pumps - Positive and Centrifugal
  • Welding and Fabrication (purge welding)
  • Waste Water Treatment experience, a plus.
  • Dairy experience preferred with leadership skill and the potential growth for additional promotion and responsibilities
