POSITION SCOPE AND ORGANIZATIONAL IMPACT

Moss' Virtual Construction Engineer is responsible for assembling estimates, assisting with planning, scheduling, cost report set-up and forecasting, and issuing change orders, notices, and revisions. They will work closely with the Virtual Construction Manager in preparing VC Guidelines for project specific requirements and training of regional project personnel in the use of BIM tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Able to perform all VC Specialist / Project Engineer responsibilities

  • Assist VC Manager in preparing VC Guidelines for project specific requirements

  • Assist VC Manager in training of regional project personnel in the use of BIM tools

  • Assemble estimates, assist with planning and scheduling, assist in cost report set-up and forecasting, issue change orders, notices, and revisions

  • Develop schematic and detailed level models including modeling structure, interior and exterior architectural elements and MEP systems (as applicable)

  • Identify conflicts, incomplete or ambiguous design information

  • Coordinate with BIM service providers and Subcontractors

  • Create new library components

  • Coordinate with project team to subcontract assignments to outside vendors

  • Responsible as "Model Administrator" for assigned projects

  • Compile contract VC close out documentation

  • Develop models to illustrate contractor questions and solutions

  • Update as built and revised Building Information Model

  • Keep BIM revision log

  • Distribute new and revised models showing changes and RFI answers

  • Derive material quantities

  • Complete quantity surveys and produce quantity reports

  • Verify original estimate quantities for cost reports

  • Report quantities in place and maintain cost report

  • Develop the design phase schedule and the modeling and coordination schedule

  • Prepare 4D simulations as required

  • Identify long lead items and integrate them into 4D simulations

  • Define scopes of work, evaluate field problems and issue RFIs

  • Update and distribute documents and models to subcontractors and maintain control logs (as applicable)

  • Prepare and maintain submittal logs and expediting log for VC models

  • Attend and /or manage model coordination meetings and document project preconstruction / VC meetings (write minutes)

  • Coordinate models with internal and subcontractor detailers and modelers Record coordination sign offs

  • Process shop / fabrication level models for approval

  • Assist project team with construction coordination and scheduling

  • Evaluate construction installations relative to 3D coordinated models

  • Prepare "shop drawing" level 3D models for self-performed work

  • Model constructability issues and solutions for self-performed work

  • Calculate quantities for material orders and crew work planning

  • Produce dimensioned drawings from the model

  • Participate in job layout driven by 3D model data

  • Keep current and standardized job-site files

  • Timely and accurate preparation of VC models, shop drawing, etc.

  • Develop and maintain positive customer/client satisfaction

  • Demonstrate positive team attitude and interpersonal effectiveness

  • Understand contractual and legal guidelines

  • Perform other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • A degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture, completion of Construction Management Certificate Program, or equivalent

  • Minimum 3 years' project engineering experience- Field Engineer, Project Engineer, or equivalent

  • Demonstrate the ability to read and understand plans and specifications

  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of and direct support experience in required software (AutoCAD, Navisworks, Revit, Archicad, etc.)

  • Demonstrate effective written and verbal English language communication skills

  • Ability to use independent judgment, problem-solving ability, self-starting, and ability to prioritize based on relevant factors
