The Performance Improvement Consultant 3 serves as an internal consultant for all levels of the Medical Center. The Consultant leads process improvement activities, which are strategically aligned with the organizational goals using accepted improvement methodologies, including measurement, analysis, development of improvement plan, and the reporting of project results. The Consultant establishes strong working relationships with interdisciplinary members of the health care team including the medical staff, nursing and other operational areas, administration, and support services. The Consultant develops and presents data including executive summary reports, balanced score cards, and other reporting formats via committee structures as assigned. The position encompasses program and project management, consultation, facilitation, data abstraction, analytics and interpretation. This role provides strategic planning and project management support, aligning to organizational goals for the Perioperative Division. Exemplifies the mission, vision and values and acts in accordance with our policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Project Management Professional Certification
  • Bachelor's degree in business, health science, project management, engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in facilitating Rapid Process Improvement Workshops and Kaizen Events
  • Experience in leading Strategic Planning Sessions
  • Experience in new program development and implementation
  • Experience working in an Academic Medical Center
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Proficient in Process Mapping Techniques and applications of Lean Six Sigma tools
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient in Project Management skills, demonstrating comprehensive portfolio of successfully completed initiatives
  • Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Flexibility to meet organizational goals and adapting to changing needs
  • Ability to meet internal and external customer needs
  • Ability to lead others through uncertainty
  • Ability to perform tasks independently and prioritize workload
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, while striving for and motivating teams towards excellence

Department Overview

Perioperative Services at UC Davis Health encompasses multiple Operating Rooms, Preoperative and Post-Anesthesia Units, and Sterile Processing Departments, across the UC Davis Health Campus. Surgical care is provided across the entire life spectrum, includes a wide range of inpatient and ambulatory surgical specialties, including (but not limited to: ACS Level 1 Trauma, Bariatric, Burn, Cardiac, Colorectal, Endocrine, ENT, Gynecology, comprehensive Neurosurgery, Oncologic, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic Trauma, comprehensive Orthopedic (Spine, Foot & Ankle, Hand & Hand Trauma), Otolaryngology, Pain, Plastics, Robotics, Thoracic, Transplant, Vascular, Urology, and Uro-Gyn. Additionally, our Children's Surgery Center provides comprehensive surgical care in the full-range of surgical specialties in an age-appropriate setting.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
