THIS IS A TIME-LIMITED POSITION WITH AN ESTIMATED DURATION OF 2 YEARS.

The UNC Horizons program seeks a time-limited Lead Justice-Involved Peer Navigator & Evaluation Assistant provides gender-responsive, trauma-informed peer support to women with by substance use and justice-involvement histories. This position assists clients in meeting their recovery goals by offering screenings, monthly peer navigation sessions, reentry planning, and follow-up perinatal support. In alignment with Horizons' perinatal SUD model, the role also includes birthing and postpartum doula-informed support, offering emotional and informational guidance to pregnant and postpartum clients with justice-involvement histories (probation, pre-trial, recovery court, reentry, child welfare/family court) residing in residential, carceral, or transitional housing settings. The position participates in interdisciplinary justice-involved clinical and evaluation team meetings, assists clients with enrollment upon release from incarceration or a part of pretrial/recovery court services, and documents all services in accordance with program standards. As the Evaluation Assistant, the role supports federal and state reporting requirements by entering service data, reviewing behavioral health services, identifying opportunities to strengthen referral pathways, and monitoring process health comes outcomes within a team setting.

Specifically, the Lead Justice-Involved Peer Navigator & Evaluation Assistant:

a) Engage in ethical service delivery and practices as required by all auditing bodies (certification and licensure boards, UNC University, UNC Horizons)
b) Foster hope and healing among individuals impacted by SUD, trauma, violence, and incarceration through story-telling and strengths-based skills
c) Serve as a member of Horizons' interdisciplinary team, Reentry Clinical Team and Evaluation Team
d) Assist clients at the time of release from incarceration, 1:1 monthly session when assigned, and ensuring a detailed comprehensive discharge planning from hospital and jail/prison settings.
e) Attend Horizons' weekly interdisciplinary meetings and individual supervision, and other team meetings
f) Document services delivered in adherence to program productivity standards. All contacts for peer support must be documented with a daily service note. The note must indicate purpose of the intervention, the specific intervention providing how effective the intervention was, and how much time was spent providing the intervention.

Associate's degree in a related Human Services discipline and two years of experience related to the area of assignment, or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

History, knowledge, and at least one year of exposure to social work or counseling experience; or experience with the substance abuse population, gender-specific treatment, child and family counseling, justice-involved population and a perinatal setting preferred. An ideal candidate will have exceptional organizational skills, time management skills, charting and documentation, and ability to address clinical needs in a timely manner.
In addition, an ideal candidate would have the following experience:

1. Knowledge of SUD in adults and women
2. Knowledge of record keeping and administrative duties
3. Skill in assessment, case management, advocacy, and individual and group therapy.
4. Knowledge of the needs and concerns of women, including some exposure to issues such as childhood and adult trauma, domestic violence, sexual assault, substance abuse., pregnancy/parenting, and legal and economic difficulties.
5. Ability to work with women from varying incomes, ages, ethnic/racial groups, lifestyles.
6. Knowledge of residential, transitional housing, and carceral/court environments
7. Knowledge of supervisory role, especially with paraprofessionals.

Specialized knowledge of motivational interviewing, 12-step Philosophy, trauma therapies, and recovery principals
