Nursing Unit Secretary

Location: Maine Medical Center - R5
Schedule: Part Time (Opportunity to increase to Full Time)
Shift: Day Shift, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Schedule Details: Rotating schedule including weekends and holidays
Remote Work: No

Position Summary

MaineHealth is seeking a Nursing Unit Secretary to join our R5 unit at Maine Medical Center. This role performs a variety of clerical, receptionist, and transporter duties to support patient care and unit operations. The Nursing Unit Secretary plays a vital role in maintaining effective communication, organization, and workflow on the unit.

Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary receptionist for the unit, greeting patients, families, and visitors

  • Perform clerical and administrative duties including answering phones, managing paperwork, and maintaining patient records

  • Coordinate communication between nursing staff, providers, and ancillary departments

  • Assist with patient transport as needed

  • Support unit workflow to ensure efficient and safe patient care

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  1. Education: High School diploma or GED preferred.
  2. License/Certifications: Current BLS certification preferred or may be required based on location.
  3. Experience: One year of hospital or health care setting preferred.
