Job Summary:

Responsible for managing production operations during the assigned shift, including blow molding, receiving, processing, and overall production output. The Junior Production Supervisor will work closely with Production Supervisors, the Production Manager, and senior department leads for mentorship and guidance. They will actively participate in variance analysis, efficiency tracking, and production planning/reporting.

The Junior Supervisor will coordinate with the maintenance team to schedule and oversee equipment repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to production. They will also monitor and address quality issues promptly to uphold product standards and compliance.

A strong focus on safety is essential, with the Junior Supervisor expected to promote and enforce workplace safety protocols, conduct safety checks, and support a culture of continuous improvement in safety practices.

Additionally, the Junior Supervisor will attend leadership development courses provided by Hood's Training & Development team and collaborate with other supervisors and management to provide coverage during vacations, personal time off, and other business needs.

Shift: 12:30pm to 9:30pm; Wednesdays and Sundays off. Adjusting hours and days as needed for coverage.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Ensure shift production, cleaning activities and schedules meet business objectives
  • Ensure shift production efficiencies are maximized, and waste is minimized
  • Ensure positive employee relations and maximize labor efficiency
  • Properly address and handle operational, maintenance, and employee issues in a timely manner
  • Strive to meet identified goals
  • Coach, develop, train, and motivate employees
  • Properly and effectively communicate to employees, peers, and management
  • Ensure responsibilities and expectations for each position are completed
  • Enforce and ensure compliance with all rules, policies, programs, and procedures, including but not limited to GMP's, SQF, Safety, Quality, Regulatory (State and Federal), Company, and Plant
  • Conduct Incident Investigations for accidents, damage, mishaps, etc. in a timely manner and appropriately follow up with any identified corrective action
  • Ensure that the highest level of housekeeping, cleaning, and sanitation is always maintained
  • Administer coaching and corrective action as necessary
  • Assume increased responsibilities as production requirements dictate
  • Adjust work shifts dependent upon production and staffing needs
  • Assume production manager responsibilities as needed in their absence


Education and Experience



  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 year's experience in Dairy Manufacturing environment
  • Experience working with HTST pasteurization
  • Strong computer skills (RSView, Excel, Word)
  • Ability to work well with people
  • Good math skills working with fractions, percents and decimals
  • Good reading, writing and communications skills.
  • Excellent organization skills


Safety Responsibilities:



  • Work in a safe and responsible manner always, following all safety policies, procedures, and rules
  • Safety reporting (i.e., unsafe observations or conditions)
  • Injury reporting
  • In partner with the EHS team, coordinate safety programs, training and continuous development
  • Meet all company requirements for training, including but not limited to Log Out/Tag Out, PPE, PIT, Ergonomics, etc.


SQF Requirements/Responsibilities:



  • Support SQF by maintaining food safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner following prescribed procedures;
  • Report food safety problems to a manager


Physical Requirements:



  • Stand: Long periods (minimum of 6 hours)
  • Sitting: Occasionally for short periods
  • Walking: Frequently
  • Bending: Occasionally.
  • Twisting of Spine: Occasionally.
  • Lifting: Light (c 30 lbs.) infrequently
  • Carrying: Light (30-50 lbs.) infrequently, distance 100 ft.
  • Pushing/Pulling: < 75 lbs. without assistance infrequently

The pay range for this position is
$68,200 $78,200 USD
