The Genomics Data Scientist Professional plays a crucial role within the Children's Hospital Colorado Precision Diagnostics Laboratory team. This role is responsible for developing high throughput biological data analytical models and processes to secure the vision and mission of Precision Medicine. Utilizes statistical modelling, machine learning and other computational methods to provide deeper insights into large- scale biological data sets to support diagnostics and genomic research needs.

Shift: Days, Monday - Friday, with potential to support urgent test requests as needed on weekends and holidays.

Duties & Responsibilities
Perform hands-on modeling of integrated large biological data, clinical and high-dimensional, patient-level data from the Employee Health Record (EHR) to generate fit-for-purpose evidence that is applied for decision making in Precision Medicine diagnostic or therapeutics clinical setting.
Contributes to planning, execution, interpretation, validation and communication of innovative exploratory analyses, to facilitate internal decision making, and support development of clinical grade genomic analytical workflows.
Generates self-service tools, detailed reports and visualizations to communicate findings in a clear and concise manner to collaborative teams.
Ensures the accuracy, integrity, and security of clinical data by implementing best practices in data management and quality control.
Remains current with the latest advancements in genetic testing and data science methodologies.
Utilizes statistical and computational methods to analyze genetic and clinical data.
Supports early target discovery with data mining efforts through integrative analysis of human genetic and genomic datasets.
Collaborates with wet- and dry-lab team members across project teams.
Clearly communicates key findings through interactive data visualizations and presentations.
Collaborates closely with matrixed project team to design and prototype bioinformatics workflows for next generation sequencing (NGS) data analysis, contributing to the development of new assay offerings.
Supports bioinformatics engineering team members in translating prototyped pipelines into scalable, production software.
Conducts data analysis to gain deeper understanding of current methods, enabling improved characterization of methods.
Performs data wrangling, statistical analysis and interpretation to enable data-driven decision-making and facilitate data interpretation.
Develops and optimizes computational tools and pipelines to support scientific research and data interpretation.
Generates thorough documentation for development, research and pipeline execution efforts to ensure clarity and compliance.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION - Master of Science degree in Computational Biology, Statistics, Data Science or other quantitative sciences (physics, math, evolutionary biology, population genetics)
EXPERIENCE - Three (3) years of data science experience within a genomics clinical laboratory, genomics health tech or applied genomics research setting
EQUIVALENCY - Additional education may substitute for additional experience above required level
Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Annual Salary Range (Based on 40 hours worked per week): $94,871.97 to $142,307.96
