BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN-V Chicago Department of Transportation Division of Engineering One Call Program Number of Positions: 1 (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) This position is open to the public and all current City employees covered under the City's collective bargaining agreement with AMERICAN FEDERATION OF STATE, COUNTY AND MUNICIPAL EMPLOYEES UNION (AFSCME) - Select BU 01. Select your correct bargaining unit FAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATION Starting Salary: $73,140 annually (B-14) Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm CST on 12/29/2025 Under direction, participates in a variety of specialized and/or complex para-professional engineering projects or acts as a working supervisor in an assigned area of responsibility, and performs related duties as required. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Conducts plan reviews of drawings to ensure that City streets will not be adversely affected by construction. Prepares Utility hit reports, field inspection and hit investigation reports. Prepares Chicago Underground Facilities Damage Prevention Ordinance Violation Documents. Prepares Notice of Investigation letters, excavator information request forms and Facility operator information request forms. Prepares documents for Evaluation panel hearings. Assists coordinating and scheduling meetings of representatives with Evaluation panel, Law Department and Excavators. Assists coordinating and preparing safe excavation training. Coordinates the collection of documents and collection of fines assessed by the Evaluation Panel. Prepares Evaluation panel meeting minutes. Evaluates a variety of contractor's shop drawings. Studies contract plans and specifications for errors or omissions. Evaluates accuracy of engineering source data. Supervises and trains subordinate personnel on good engineering practices and procedures. Performs other related duties as required. LOCATION: Chicago Department of Transportation 445 N Sacramento Blvd. Chicago, IL Days: Monday-Friday Hours: 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. THIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALFICATIONS: Four (4) years of paraprofessional engineering experience. Should the above criteria not be fulfilled, the following options are acceptable: Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree, plus two (2) years of paraprofessional engineering work experience OR Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree or higher, plus one (1) year of paraprofessional engineering work experience. Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required at the time of hire.
