Lathrop GPM, one of the nation's leading law firms, has an immediate opening for a Senior Client Billing Specialist in our Minneapolis, MN, or Kansas City, MO locations. The Senior Legal Billing Specialist is responsible for managing complex billing processes for legal services, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely invoicing. This role serves as a key liaison between attorneys, clients, and the finance department, and plays a critical role in optimizing billing operations and resolving billing issues.

* Identify, suggest and implement efficient billing processes to manage complex billing requirements.

* Serve as the primary liaison for attorneys, staff, and clients to resolve escalated billing issues and discrepancies promptly.

* Lead and optimize electronic billing operations, leveraging advanced knowledge of eBilling platforms such as EBillingHub, Legal Tracker, CounselLink, and similar systems.

* Monitor and analyze eBilling performance, including audits, compliance checks, and progress reporting, to identify trends and implement improvements.

* Maintain and govern client billing profiles, ensuring accuracy of rates, formats, and special requirements while enforcing firm-wide standards.

* Develop and deliver billing analytics and reports for leadership and client stakeholders, providing insights for financial planning and decision-making.

* Ensure strict compliance with outside counsel guidelines and engagement terms, proactively addressing risks and exceptions.

* Respond to high-level client inquiries and provide strategic guidance on billing policies and best practices.

* Mentor and train junior billing staff, fostering expertise in billing systems, compliance, and client service excellence.

* Train and mentor client billing specialists

* and contribute to process improvement initiatives.

* Assist with month-end and year-end closing procedures related to billing.

* Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

* Minimum of 5 years of legal billing experience, preferably in a law firm or corporate legal department.

* 3E Billing Software experience required.

* Strong knowledge of legal billing systems and eBilling platforms.

* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

* Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment (e.g., via phone, web/videoconference).

* Ability to concentrate on tasks, make decisions and work calmly and effectively in a high-pressure, deadline-orientated environment.

* Demonstrated ability to use good judgment in taking initiative while asking for direction or clarification and consulting others, as appropriate.

* Willingness to be flexible with time and adjust to a changing work environment.

* Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally, while maintaining a client service orientation.

* Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.

* Ability to maintain regular attendance and work regularly scheduled hours.

* Ability to take direction and accept supervision.

* Demonstrate ability to work independently, organize and accurately prioritize work, be detail-oriented, understand when urgency is required and use good judgment in varied situations.

* Ability to work effectively with co-workers in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.

Current anticipated salary range for applicants as required by applicable state laws is $60,000 - 75,000 in Minneapolis. Actual salary will vary and may be above or below the range depending on experience and location. Full comprehensive benefit plan including health care, retirement plan and paid days off, including PTO, parental leave, and short/long term disability.
