Job Overview
The Lineman, Certified will install or repair cables or wires used in electrical power or distribution systems. May erect poles and light or heavy duty transmission towers.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties & Functions:
- Installs, modifies, tests, maintains, adjusts and repairs high voltage underground and overhead electrical systems, subsystems and accessories including, but not limited to, switches, transformers, regulators and similar mechanisms using various types of electronic testing equipment and tools; plans layout work from blueprints, sketches, diagrams and other specifications/codes and determines type and amount of material required; rewires and makes other major repairs to assemblies; maintains specialized tools, equipment and safety devices used in trucks; operates bucket truck and line truck, maintains a log and records of operation and maintenance activities.
- Must be able to climb utility pole.
- All other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
Mandatory:
- High school graduate or GED equivalent with satisfactory completion of apprenticeship program for overhead and underground systems and a minimum of three (3) years' experience as a high voltage lineman.
- CDL license required.
- Must be certified as follows: In accordance with OSHA Regulation Standard 29 CFR 1910.269 Electric Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution. ANSI C2 National Electrical Safety Code (PPE, Lockout/Tagout, Climbing, Pole Top Rescue, Fall Arrest System). CPR and First Aid.
- Ability to report to work within 1 hour of notification for non-scheduled switching or problem investigation.
- Successful completion of MSS Electrical Utilization Safe Work Practices and Electrical Distribution Safe Work Practices Training and SSC Standards within 45 days of employment
- Must be a U.S. Citizen in order to obtain required NASA badge
- Must be able to provide a certified Birth Certificate (with state seal), Passport, or INS Citizenship documents on date of hire (candidate will be sent home if this paperwork is not provided upon arrival on date of hire).
- Must have the ability to communicate the English language, both verbally and written, in an effective manner.
- Must have, and maintain, a valid Real ID driver's license.
- Must be able to pass a Pre-Employment background check and drug screen test.
Working Conditions:
- Physical effort involving able average standing, sitting, walking or detail work. Occasional risk of injury due to hazards.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50
