Civil Engineering Team Leader (PE), Public Works & Local Infrastructure, Water & Wastewater, Tyler, TX
Halff has an opening for a Team Leader in our Tyler, Texas office. The ideal candidate will bring a breadth of civil engineering experience with a firm grasp of leading a team and managing multiple projects. This candidate should have considerable experience in various types of public works projects, which could include water and wastewater projects either as a private consultant or as a municipal employee. The successful candidate should be community-minded with the capacity to lead, mentor, and inspire a team of young engineers, make independent decisions, resolve complex problems, engage in business development and client management. Halff's water and wastewater practice are primed for growth and we are looking for someone to lead the way in growing this practice within our firm and in the East Texas area.
What you will do:
- Providing strong leadership, guidance, and technical expertise to an existing exceptional Public Works & Local Infrastructure/Water & Wastewater Team.
- Lead civil design and production staff in planning, design, and execution of water & wastewater utility and/or facility projects of moderate to advanced size and complexity.
- Make decisions independently and resolve complex problems.
- Manage direct reports.
- Be responsible for business development and manage budgets, personnel, schedules, sub consultants, and client interactions.
- Support operations managers and practice leaders in business development and pursuit of Public Works & Local Infrastructure/Water & Wastewater opportunities.
- Team performance (production, profitability, quality, staffing, etc.).
- Maintain and further develop client relationships throughout the Tyler area and beyond.
- Directly manage projects and oversee project managers on various projects.
- Work closely with other Halff leaders and manage resources to successfully workshare across the company on multiple projects.
What you will need:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering or ABET accredited equivalent engineering degree.
- 15 years of experience to support Water/Wastewater Utility projects including pipeline and facility design, and planning.
- Water and Wastewater System planning and design.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License in Texas.
- Experience in water treatment processes and/or modeling is desired, but not required.
- Responsible for business development, production, and staffing.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Must be self-directed yet a team player, and have focus on quality, integrity and success.
