Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Genetic Counselor.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for fulfilling the need for genetic counseling services in Bellevue Hospital. Offers services in the inpatient wards and outpatient clinics of Bellevue Hospital.
Job Responsibilities:
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Demonstrates knowledge of the organization's Core Values and incorporates them into the performance of duties.
- Provides neurogenetic risk assessment and counseling.
- Performs diagnostic testing and counseling for neurological genetic conditions due to clinical presentation or because of a positive family history.
- Performs pediatric and adult diagnosis of genetic diseases.
- Conducts genetic evaluation of individuals at risk due to clinical presentation and family history of genetic disease.
- Clinical genetic evaluations and counseling along with a neurologist, primarily genetic counseling in patients with suspected or diagnosed neuromuscular genetic disorders with a specific concentration on ALS/ PLS.
- Genetic counseling and presymptomatic DNA testing of individuals at risk for specific single-gene diseases.
- Genetic counseling and predisposition DNA testing of individuals at risk for complex diseases, such as specific forms of Neurological Conditions.
- Participates in clinic meetings. Actively participates in activities of the Medical School. Offers education in genetics to medical students, residents, and the public.
- Dedicated to the ALS Center in the Neuromuscular Division of Neurology. The position will also have a role in future clinical trials and research within the ALS Center.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Master's degree in Genetic Counseling and be certified by the American Board of Genetic Counselors.
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $67,771.14 - $90,270.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
