Administrative Manager 1- Fresno
Job Summary Responsible for managing the administrative operations of a large academic department, with 12 sub-specialties. Responsibilities include the following functions: IT, facilities/space planning, student services, contracts and grants, budgetary financial management and / or human resources. Manages a large group of professional staff in various fields. Assumes accountability for decisions made by subordinates. Performs long and short term planning for function. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve goals results in additional costs and personnel, and serious delays in overall schedules.
Under the general direction of the Vice Chair this position is responsible for all aspects of the Department including finances, , information technology, operations, staffing, accreditation, initiating new programs, strategic planning, and space planning. The Department includes the divisions of general internal medicine, cardiology, gastroenterology, pulmonology critical care medicine, infectious diseases/HIV, endocrinology, nephrology, rheumatology, hematology/oncology, geriatrics, sleep medicine as well as dermatology and neurology. This position provides overall leadership and administration of the entire department, supporting the broad initiatives of the Department, and is responsible for strategizing, developing, planning and implementing viable administrative structures and funding streams to support these initiatives. This requires continual strategic review, development and implementation of structures and controls to manage risk. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $143,900 - $215,800 (Annual Rate). Department Description UCSF Fresno is a major educational and clinical branch of UCSF that is located in the Central San Joaquin Valley and is administered by the Office of the Associate Dean in Fresno. The Department of Medicine is the largest department on the UCSF Fresno campus and the UCSF School of Medicine, the department has 12divisions and over 120 core faculty. The UCSF Fresno Department of Medicine provides service and training at the affiliated locations: Community Regional Medical Centers; Veterans Administration Central California Health Care System (VACCHCS).
UCSF Fresno is a major educational, research and clinical branch of UCSF that is located in the Central San Joaquin Valley and is administered by the Office of the Dean in Fresno. Programs and affiliations of the School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Dentistry are administered by UCSF Fresno. The CRC encompasses all funded clinical trials within the Department of Medicine, including the disciplines of internal medicine, cardiology, GI, neurology, oncology and pulmonary and critical care medicine, as well as select studies with UCSF Fresno faculty in the departments of OB/GYN, emergency medicine, neurosurgery, pediatrics and psychiatry and dermatology. As a Clinical Research Coordinator for the UCSF Fresno Clinical Research Center, this position is responsible for the coordination of various clinical trials with an emphasis on inter-departmental collaboration.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related areas and / or equivalent experience / training
- 6+ years of directly relevant operations management experience
- 5+ years of lead/supervisor/manager experience
- Valid driver's license when driving (e.g., between Fresno and San Francisco)
- Broad knowledge of financial analysis and reporting techniques; human resources and risk management planning; and / or accounting and payroll
- Broad knowledge of common organization-specific and other computer application programs
- Proven ability to organize department work functions in an efficient and effective manner
- Demonstrated management and conflict resolution skills to effectively lead and motivate others
- Proven skills to quickly evaluate complex issues and identify multiple options for resolution
- Skills in organization and customer service to effectively manage multiple important priorities
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to influence / persuade all levels of staff
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of the organizations processes, protocols and procedures with a focus on budget, account and fund management and / or personnel management under labor contract(s) and personnel policy
- Knowledge of ACGME and RRC regulations
