We are looking for a Regulatory Compliance Specialist in 401 N Michigan Ave, Suite 1400, Chicago, IL 60611 USA. Your mission will be to:
Regulatory Affairs Specialist - Technical is responsible for supporting all regulatory and labeling services provided to food and beverage manufacturers, retailers, importers/exporters, and restaurant clients. This role ensures timely and effective communication with customers while assisting with label reviews, menu labeling, and other regulatory activities to deliver exceptional client satisfaction. The position involves a broad range of nutrition, labeling, and compliance responsibilities designed to meet all applicable regulatory requirements and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate demonstrates leadership, a commitment to continuous improvement, and a proactive, growth-oriented mindset that contributes to both operational excellence and the profitable expansion of the business.
YOUR PROFILE
Qualifications Required
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition or related science fields, Registered Dietician is a plus * Minimum of 5 years of related work experience (Regulatory Compliance or Affairs, Food Labeling or relatedTo be considered, applicants should hold a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or a related scientific discipline. A Registered Dietitian certification is a plus. Candidates must also have a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience, ideally in Regulatory Compliance, Regulatory Affairs, Food Labeling, or a related field.
BS/BA degree in chemistry, food science, or related fields preferred.
1-3 years of previous experience working directly with customers and/or customer service is preferred.
Strong computer skills, including expertise in Microsoft software (especially Excel for generating reports and communication) and Google software for communication and information sharing.
Excellent organizational and time management skills are essential for tracking and maintaining project workload within timelines.
Multitasking, prioritization, superior follow-up skills, and attention to detail are crucial for success in this role.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required for effective interaction with a variety of external and internal customers.
Ability to translate technical requests into appropriate service offerings and provide solutions.
Some knowledge of food testing and/or food regulation is beneficial.
Qualifications Desired
Proficiency with labeling software platforms such as ESHA Genesis, BeFoodSmart, or other nutrient analysis systems.
Working knowledge of the U.S. FDA, USDA, and Health Canada food labeling regulations.
Familiarity with regulatory data management systems or CRM tools (e.g., Salesforce).
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple client projects and balance competing priorities.
Experience contributing to process improvement or documentation development (SOPs, templates, or guidelines).
Strong business acumen with an understanding of how regulatory services support revenue growth and client satisfaction.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Serve as the initial point of contact for Regulatory Affairs leads coming in via phone, email or internet. Assist in writing and delivering proposals for Regulatory Services.
Oversee monitoring of the Regulatory Affairs group mailboxes to ensure customer requests are assigned, and regulatory team members are meeting deadlines. Responds to general inquiries and seeks out information for technical inquiries regarding department services. Gather necessary data ahead of the regulatory staff to initiate services.
Responsible for ensuring customer account set-up for LCRS customers, by either setting up the accounts directly or working with the Customer Care department.
Responsible for creating and maintaining department customer projects tracking records to document workload, start and completion dates. Maintains tracking records using spreadsheets and other systems.
Responsible for through preparation and communication with customer care for all LCRS invoicing. Responsible for contractor invoices to submit to Accounts Payable.
Develop and document all processes required to carry out the administrative, operational processes for the department. Maintains and updates the department SOPs, Work Instructions and indexes.
Performs other related duties as needed.
Coordinates detailed information accurately to execute scheduling of workload based on customer and internal expectations. Responsible for the routine decision-making regarding scheduling.
Maintain customer care and excellence through responsiveness, communication, and professionalism with all external & internal clients.
Other duties as assigned.
Travel
Minimal travel is required, primarily for training or company meetings.
Travel is typically less than 10% of the time.
General sign-off will happen electronically via the HRIS system.

Compensation Package Overview:
Compensation Range $65,000 - $70,000 annual salary
