The Team:

Are you an Electronics Engineer who loves to create interesting contraptions and make cool stuff? Here's an opportunity to work with some of the finest designers and engineers in the toy industry, all supporting Mattel's Fisher-Price brands including Little People, Newborn, Infant, Preschool, and Laugh & Learn.

The Opportunity:

Be part of the D&D teams that create some of the world's coolest electronic toys! Managing multiple new electronic items every year makes this position both challenging and rewarding. You'll communicate effectively with Engineers, Designers and other cross-functional teams in El Segundo, East Aurora and China. You'll contribute technological elements to concepts in a collaborative setting as part of the Mattel Brands. You'll routinely collaborate in brainstorming new product concepts. You'll bring your inquisitive mind, inventive instinct, enthusiasm for electronic toys and gadgets, and your expertise as an Electronic Design Engineer to fascinating projects on a daily basis!

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Design, prototyping, and troubleshooting analog and digital electronic circuits.
  • Vision and perseverance to take ideas from concept through development and into production.
  • Work cross-functionally with Design, Project Management, Marketing, Mechanical Engineering, etc.
  • Breadboard/prototype physical models to evaluate new product concepts.
  • Write firmware for microcontrollers under supervision.
  • Document functional product specifications, test results and design changes.
  • Participate in design reviews and team meetings.
  • Learn toy safety standards and compliance requirements.
  • Assist with audio related design activities, performance testing and optimization.
  • Support user interface design, testing and refinement.

What We're Looking For:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering is strongly preferred.
  • Self-starter, self-motivating, self-directing, self-managing and a strong team player.
  • Project management skills - the ability to lead, multi-task and handle several projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with any of the following: ARM, C, C++, Embedded Systems, or Audio/ Visual Assets.
  • Proficiency with firmware development for embedded systems a plus.
  • Ability to communicate regularly and effectively via email and Teams with Asia based Engineering peers.
  • Experience with electromechanical systems.
  • Effective in person communication and presentation abilities/skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

Desired Experience and Skills:

  • Building prototypes based on input from non-technical partners.
  • Ability to pitch new electronic ideas/technology or toy concepts to peers and management.
  • Mechatronic / Animatronic system design
  • TFT / OLED Displays
  • Motion sensors & microphones
  • Wireless ICs (BT, WiFi, 2.4G)
  • Microprocessors and Peripherals
