We are excited to add a Senior Cost Accountant to our growing Finance & Accounting team! This role will pay between $75,000 - $92,000 based on experience and educational credentials. This is a hybrid position working in our Marietta, GA headquarters.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Will take a leadership role within the Cost Accounting team in monitoring and reporting on all production/manufacturing aspects of the business. Leader in the month end closing and reporting processes, with direct and regular communication with senior management.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:




  • Manage and complete the full process for annual product costing
  • Create and present regular reports and detailed analysis production variances
  • Create cost estimates for new products
  • Major contributor in Month-end close of the General Ledger
  • Perform quarterly physical inventories counts
  • Lead physical inventory analysis determining write-offs and financial adjustments
  • Compiling, reporting and presenting operations financial results to upper management
  • Collect and compile data for audits
  • Aid in consignment inventory reconciliation process - including travel for audits
  • Independently Create ad-hoc analysis and reports for operations team
  • Perform detailed, thorough analysis on financial variances
  • Assist operations team in the budgeting process

  • Independently performs full range of standard professional level work that typically requires processing and interpreting, more complex, less clearly defined issues.
  • Proactively identifies problems and possible solutions and takes appropriate action to resolve
  • Demonstrates advanced skill in data analysis techniques by resolving missing/incomplete information, inconsistencies/anomalies in more complex research/data



DECISION MAKING/SCOPE OF AUTHORITY:




  • Nature of work requires increasing independence; receives guidance only on unusual complex problems or issues
  • Work review typically involves periodic review of output by supervisor and/or direct "customers" of the process



SPAN OF CONTROL/COMPLEXITY:



  • Fully competent and productive professional contributor, working independently on larger, moderately complex projects/assignments that have direct impact on department results



EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:




  • Bachelor's degree in accounting from an accredited university
  • 3-5 years of cost accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products (strong focus on Microsoft Excel)
  • Excellent analytical skills. Sound understanding of accounting principles
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills



SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:



  • In-depth knowledge of accounting principles and best practices
  • Computer literacy skills, especially with MS Excel and basic data entry and computation
  • Analytical skills with a keen sense of organization and detail
  • Proven time management skills and ability to work under strict deadlines
  • Respect for confidentiality of information laws and local ethics
  • Expertise in activity-based costing for fixed and variable costs in relation to the overall direct cost of a line of products



WORK ENVIRONMENT/EXPECTED BUSINESS TRAVEL:

Ability to travel quarterly (less than 15% travel)
