Sales and Customer Service Job Details: I'm looking for a manufacturing sales engineer with technical knowledge of machined components. They must be able to travel domestically with overnight stays. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Engage with representatives such as engineers, buying & sourcing agents, or other professional and technical personnel at OEM's, commercial, and industrial companies to convince a prospective client to buy manufacturing services offered. Compile list of prospective customer contacts for use as sales leads based on information from newspapers, business directories, industry ads, trade shows, internet web sites, networking, and other sources. Travel to support current customer accounts and call on prospective customers to seek opportunities for new business. Review technical drawings and other customer documents to help engineering develop and prepare cost estimates. Review customer accounts for opportunities to expand on manufacturing services offered to increase sales. Present quoted prices, credit terms and prepare service contracts for orders obtained. Supply estimated delivery dates to customers based on knowledge of company's production and delivery schedules. Interact with internal departments such as customer service, production control, engineering, quality and purchasing to expedite and/or troubleshoot manufacturing capabilities. Prepare sales activity reports and maintain expense account. Maintain up-to-date marketing literature. Enter new customer contact data and other sales prospect data into CRM database. Provide a strong customer interface to support and grow relationships. Investigate and resolve customer issues with products and deliveries. Must be able to accommodate overnight travel. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE An associate degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with manufacturing courses preferred; or one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience selling manufacturing services within the contract machining industry. Ability to understand and interpret technical part drawings. Working knowledge of CNC machining, screw machines and other manufacturing processes. Ability to use basic computer software. Must be self-directed, meticulous and have excellent communication and presentation skills. Must show initiative and have ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously. LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts and apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. REASONING ABILITY Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited information exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions offered in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must have a valid Class D driver's license.
