The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Social Worker will support the KidsFit obesity treatment program at NBIMC Pediatric Health Center and the Pediatric Special Center at Cooperman Barnabas in West Orange. This person will be responsible for providing comprehensive psychosocial support for pediatric patients and their families as part of the pediatric weight management program; KidsFit. This role involves assessing family needs, offering targeted counseling, resource navigation, and coordinating with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the social and psychosocial factors of obesity and the associated comorbidities.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master s degree in social work MSW from an accredited program preferred.
  • Valid state licensure LCSW or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in pediatric social work or a related field
  • Strong understanding of child development and psychosocial factors affecting pediatric patients
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

Scheduling Requirements (non-exempt positions):

  • 35 Hr
  • Days
  • Full-time

Essential Functions:

  • The LCSW will support the patient and their family to ensure comprehension of program expectations and help address any barriers to participation
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of pediatric patients and their families to identify emotional, social, and environmental factors related to pediatric obesity and the associated comorbidities
  • Provide individual and family counseling to address issues such as self-esteem, stress management, and behavior
  • Assist families in accessing community resources such as mental health services, financial aid, and educational programs to overcome barriers to treatment and ensure optimal health outcomes
  • EMR documentation of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with clinical regulatory standards
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to integrate social work into the pediatric care plan
  • Participate in the clinical and group sessions of the KidsFit pediatric obesity treatment program
